I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God."
-
Your point is?
-
Did you read the very next account? Use a little of your Greek on the word for "kingdom" (hint: "royal splendor"), then read the Transfiguration passage and it'll make sense.
-
Jesus uses the words "kingdom of God" to refer to a time that is both now and in the future. Although a bit confusing, there's really no problem here.
-
For those who are of a literary bent, you can look at the folk lore surrounding the Wandering Jew. This legend grew up in part because of Luke 9:27.
-
I am a little slow can some one explain?
-
I was thinking of it along a more existentialist perspective.
Some spend their entire existence pursuing the pleasures of this world.
Others spend their entire existence trying to define their existence by sowing treasures in the world to come.
But some will see their eternal existence made manifest in their lifetime; some will see the glory of God made manifest in their temporal lives.
"What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?"
-
I like it.
