Well, our desktop power sourse just went out...again. Considering we've been having problems with it for a while (its old and we bought it from my brother for really cheap so it's no surprise for us), we just want to replace the whole thing. Well, my wife just got her netbook and I've been wanting a laptop so its the perfect opertunity to get one :).
So my question is, what's a good laptop to get?
My wants are that big. I am a gamer but the top graphic game that I have is either NWN 2 or Heroes Of Might And Might 5 so I don't need that top notch graphics card. The other things I do it watch Hulu and RTS. Yea, not that needy :p.
Which ones should I look at? Do any of them come with a CD-R drive?
-
*My wants "aren't" that big.
-
Get a mac!
-
Heck No!!!
Also, forgot to mention that I would like to have a modem that can be either wired or wireless.
-
www.newegg.com
Great site for finding great deals on laptops.
-
Heck No!!!
Good response sir.
-
:p
Newegg is a good site and I was going to check a couple of other sites/places as well. The problem is, I don't know what I need to fit my requirements. I'm good working on computers but I'm lacking in knowledge on the computer itself.

Good response sir.
When's the last time you used a Mac?
-
I have to use them for some projects, and I hate it.

I was forced to buy one for my college. None of my games run on it, and I dislike how the Adobe Suite is set up to run on Macs.
So, I dual booted it with Windows XP and everything is just fine. I've probably used the Mac OS like, less than 10 hours since I got it last summer.
-
I got a Samsung laptop with an Intel5 processor last October and I've never stopped loving it.
-
Macs are great computers. Yes I know I'm among the minority on here who uses them, but they're really good. Not sure why my posts were thumbed down, except that you guys hate macs....
I have to use them for some projects, and I hate it.
And it hates you. :)

Because I'm used to using my computer to it's full potential. Macs are lazy.
-
So, getting back on topic (especially since Mac can't do anything without Windows :p), what are some other laptop (or what type of components should I be looking for with my small list of requirements)?
-
Do you want a netbook or a laptop? Laptops are more powerful, but more expensive, and shorter battery life.
-
and shorter battery life.
My laptop generally has way better battery life than my friend's netbook. It all depends what you're doing with it.
-
Well, sure, it's totally possible. But generally speaking, netbooks have longer battery life.
-
My wife has a netbook and it fails all my requirements (can't run the games, no ethernet connection, and no cd rom). Battery life doesn't matter that much for me since I will use it most of the time at home.
-
You could buy a high end desk top and carry it around with you. It'd have more power than a laptop, and that's awesome! Sure, high-end desktop costs more than a mid-tier laptop, but you'd save on your gym membership, so there's a +1.
-
LOL!!!

Would this be a good laptop? (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=34-157-502&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&PageSize=10&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&IsFeedbackTab=true#scrollFullInfo)

Well, I get nine and a half hours out of my mac... ::)

Can ya point me to some? I would like a cheaper one so I would afford getting Office for it but if that's a good price range, I could always get open office.

Go with Open Office.

I find that TigerDirect.com has better prices than NewEgg. I just bought an ASUS two weeks ago. I had bought a Samsung and had nothing but problems with it and had to return it.

First off! DONT TURN THIS INTO A MAC VS PC THREAD!
Second. What is your budget?
-
My up most MAX I can spend is $700 dollars but I am trying to keep it around $500 (give or take $50). I am looking at a couple of website and at Best Buy (so I could just pick it up instead of paying for shipping).
Here's a Best Buy one that seams interesting (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Gateway+-+Laptop+/+AMD+Turion%26%23153%3B+II+X2+Processor+/+15.6%22+Display+/+4GB+Memory+/+500+GB+Hard+Drive+-+Velvet+Blue/1250655.p?id=1218242897223&skuId=1250655&st=amd%20laptops&cp=1&lp=6#tabbed-customerreviews)
Also, since I mentioned that I would like it to run NWN2 and Heroes 5, might as well post the specs for ya all (I do know that, with my budget, I won't be able to max out the graphics on the games but I don't mind that much (and I do have other games but as far as I can tell, those two have the best graphics)).
