It seems like "Lampstand" is spelled as one word when referring to a religious object, but broke into two words otherwise. I'm confused/upset about why this is.

Why are you confused/upset? Is it a big deal?

English are arbitrary. Something to do with Yiddish?

I don't seem to have the same opinion.
I've seen only "lampstand".
lamp + stand = lamp stand = fail.
lamp + stand = lampstand = wyn.
And also what non-religious texts use "lampstand"?
