Looks like the boards are going to be in chaos for the next week or so. I'll try again later.

Great job, guys.

That sounds like fun Tim!

This week I've been working on stuff for my Thesis, and today I've been de-cluttering my room, cause I had too much crap, AGAIN! I already did it once and threw out a whole dumpster full of stuff. I'm about halfway done. Tomorrow, some of the students I work with are coming to my house to watch movies and have a sleepover. Sunday, I teach Sunday school for the first time in... 4 months? It's been awhile. I teach senior highers. I'm trying to think what else. I guess I'm just getting ready for the school year to start, my last one for awhile. I'm taking a well-deserved break between my Master's and my PhD.

I am awsome but not awsome(thank's for asking). Finished helping at bible school. The theme was the pirates who don't do anything(vegetales). But not awsome because ACT prep starts next week and school the week after.  Summer went by to fast. :'(

2. Attending workshops on the new Sunshine State Standards for Algebra II
3. Unpacking boxes and bins in my new home
4. Hooking up the Wii, PS2, N64, Gamecube (it's in a different room than the Wii), and my wireless network
5. Tying up loose ends after the move

As for me, I'm studying in my free time to get a head start on school, doing band preparation stuff while I'm waiting for our new lead guitarist to move back to Nashville, and getting ready to be a sophomore at my first semester at Belmont University.

I heard from someone that you don't play anymore...and no one runs lol...I never ran for soccer and that was for schenk. I am sure Luke and Mike aren't as strict about the running than Schenk...though idk.

Work (landscaping) has been tiring...its been hot and we are building a patio which involved everything that is heavy (limestone, versa-lock blocks, metal tampers) and I have a wedding tomorrow. Can't wait to start school even though that will make it difficult to make tournaments.

I haven't really done anything lately :/. Finished Driver's Ed today, and I take the permit test Monday.

I got a short-term job offer next week. I'm going to make $50 with about 2.5 hours of work (maximum, most likely less) at the city fair :D.

Pick your reason!
-So I make a lot of mistakes
-It costs the same all year 'round, so I should use as much gas as I can (heater)
-It is a convertible :'(.1

1Atleast that is what my brother and a couple of my friends told me. I think they were just trying to mess with me, though...

Interesting side note about driver training:

My driving trainer in 1986 had a Saab 900 Turbo. He taught me the MNOP principle - if you have the Momentum, Nerve, Opportunity, and Position, then you have the Right of Way.

During one of our training sessions, we were stopped at a red light on a 30-mph straightaway in downtown Manchester, NH. A red Porsche 911 pulled up next to us at the red light. My instructor said, "Move your foot off the gas pedal and hold on tight to the steering wheel. I want to blow out this Porsche."

When the light turned green, he reached his foot over, stomped on the gas pedal, and roared down the road at 120 mph.

He had to pry my hands off the steering wheel at the next light when we went back to 30 mph.  :o

When my mom was taking her drivers' test the first time, she thought she did fine, although she was nervous. At the end of the driving, the instructor asked her if she did anything differently than usual. After responding "no," he failed her. Why? She had her emergency brake on the entire time.

I just got back from the first night of a local film festival that I helped put together. Other than that I'm mostly transitioning from reading for fun to reading to get ahead for school, which I can't wait to go back to in a week.

Pfft, I took my motorcycle training class in the winter!  We had fog, ice rain, freezing temps and eventually snow.   :o

Our instructor told us if we passed the class then we could drive anywhere and under any conditions.   :D

Also, while we're talking about drivers' tests: my best friend failed his test because someone rear-ended him while he was at a stoplight. They were an illegal immigrant and didn't have any insurance. o_O

Don't you hate it when you get rear-ended at a stoplight by an illegal immigrant who doesn't have insurance?
Title: Re: How is everyone?

That's why most insurance policies have an "Uninsured Motorists" clause. I would have still been covered.  ;)

Post by: Red Dragon Thorn on August 08, 2009, 05:09:26 PM
And how do you fail your test for that? Getting rear-ended is not something you can really control. In fact I think based upon how he handled it he should have been comended.
Title: Re: How is everyone?

good point
Title: Re: How is everyone?

I also agree that the driving test should not have been affected by being rear-ended, unless there is more to the story (i.e. he slammed on the brakes as the light was changing red).
Title: Re: How is everyone?
Post by: Tsavong Lah on August 08, 2009, 05:24:19 PM
The instructor said something about any contact with other vehicles, poles, curbs, or whatever was considered grounds for an automatic fail. I thought it was pretty ridiculous, but apparently that's standard policy at that DMV.

Well, legally speaking, the accident would still be the fault of the person who rear-ended you.

depending on the skid marks they could say you we're going over the speed limit therefor you had to irregualrly stop therefor the person'(s) behind you did not have enough time to react.  :-*

Doesn't matter. By law, you have to keep a distance from the person in front of you that will give you enough time to suddenly stop if they do. Besides that, you couldn't tell any thing from the skid marks and the speed at which you're going doesn't affect your stop in the way you are thinking, according to the laws of physics.

We also were going by why the friend failed his driver's test. Whether the accident was the legal responsibility of the guy who rear-ended you or not, if you slammed on your brakes to cause an accident, you will fail your driver's test.

For slamming on your brakes, not because someone rear ended you.
