If you want to go from a new player to a great one, read the rulings board (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/ruling-questions/) and join ROOT (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/redemption-online-official-tournament/).

.... or just do what SomeKittens does. Fear the Kittens.
Welcome to the boards! Feel free to post questions about playing the game in the Ruling Questions section. If that is not where it belongs, then a Moderator will move it for you. ;D

I would recommend that while you are still a beginner you should post your deck when you try something new. The people here are great for giving newer players advice on deck building and you can use their information to either create a unique deck or copy the most commonly used deck card for card and place within the top 10 at Nationals. Preferably the first one

Welcome to the boards!!!!!! To avoid a rough entry such as mine :) I recommend just chatting with people and read posts and get a feel for what goes on here. Its been a good learning experience. People are here to help and will generally steer you in the right direction. If you have questions about how cards are played, there are elders who will answer your questions, but there are also other experienced people that are qualified to advise you as to how the cards are played. I also recommend reading the errata page in the rulings as this will help clarify what cards have been changed as some cards have been changed (which caused me a lot of confusion at 1st) to make the game work better. Overall the people here are good people and are very accomodating. Welcome!

I would have your friend help you setup hamachi and RTS. That is the easiest, fastest, and least expensive way to get into the game.

P.S. Don't trust the REG which is on the main Redemption website as it seems to be wrong most the time at least that's what I have found. :)

98% of the time, the REG is right on the money. If you find something that you don't think is right, feel free to ask.

just speaking from my experiences with it ;)

That's because the 2% minority is a very vocal minority. 98% of the cards have no problems at all, but then there's all the broken stuff and typos.

My advice, if you don't understand, don't hesitate to ask. Also, if you think you know, but kind of question it, don't hesitate to ask. :)... REG was completely wrong on a card I understood to be the way it was explained on the REG. Not so and that's why I no longer trust it. Just ask and people will clear it up for you. :)

And don't double post either. As some people never seam to remember :'(

Keep the spam to when it's appropriate and yes, don't double post. If you happen to want to add something to your post reply you can hit the "Modify" button at the top right of the post and you'll be okay. This is just the way I learned to stay on peoples' good sides.

Exactly! DON'T follow MY example of double posting that I made earlier in this thread. ;)
Don't worry...I took care of that for you...uthminister(mod)

Greetings new person!

I guess I'll give you a board greeting, even though I already kinda did it IRL. So, hello!
For everybody besides BMXJ, Thomas Hunter, and...Spathan?, I went to Lifelight and after going on stage for a comedy game, saw BMXJARED (who I didn't know at the time) calling my name...walked over there to figure out what was going on and saw Thomas Hunter and his brother.

...going on stage for a comedy game...
Did you win?

Well, it was an improv "game", so it wasn't that kind of game.
