Title: Here it comes again !
Post by: hi123 on December 16, 2010, 06:23:27 AM
Well down here in the great state of VA we are getting bombed with snow...

The weird thing:

last year, at this very same time... My aunt had a baby, then my mom went down to visit them and the very next day... after she left we got one foot of snow.

This year- My aunt had another baby( exact same time) , then my mom went down to visit them( same day as previous year) , then two days after she left we are getting bombed with snow and sleet again!!!

Remember...we are in the mid-Atlantic...2 inches is a cause for concern...especially on the roads...people just don't understand that they can't go 70 in a 55 when there's snow on the ground...now if we get hit again like Snowpocalypse 1 and 2 like this time last year and early in February...Ohio for Christmas will be out of the question...

70 in a 55? Try 70 in a 30.

Please don't encourage that. Pennsylvanians can't even drive that in the summer because they are so bad at driving; let alone with snow.

Clearly your birthday isn't close enough to understand.

Boy! Are y'all lucky. I would love to have snow down here in central texas.

By the way, towns around here shut down if we get 2 inches of snow.

Sadness

Where I grew up they didn't shut down the schools until there was at least six feet on the ground.

They got two inches of snow in Virginia Beach, and that shut everything down. Besides the fact that no one knows how to drive in snow, there are no snow removal processes in place. They don't even have the trucks that put down salt and sand before the storm. Driving in two inches of snow in Virginia Beach is more deadly than driving in two feet of snow in the northern states.

FWIW, it was 76 and sunny here in Florida yesterday. We had our staff-versus-students basketball game outside to end the school day before Christmas Break. We didn't lose by nearly as much as we did last year.  ;)

Beware snowmen in Virginia!  :o

I remember when I was living in Virginia Beach one winter and we got a few inches of snow. People were making snowmen everywhere. One snowman was built in the middle of a busy intersection. Traffic got snarled because cars were trying to swerve around it. At some point, some guys in a big pickup truck decided to bust through it. Come to find out, a stack of cinder blocks were under the snow. Ouch.

Beware mudslides/rockslides in CA. There were more than 8 car crashes that we saw. We quickly lost count. They even had to close down roads because about 5 cars had crashed into another car that crashed into a center divider.  :(
