Title: Happy Easter!
Post by: Red on April 16, 2017, 06:33:10 AM
No matter your theological stripe nor persuasion can dissuade us from the celebration of the Lord's Resurrection. Today is the day that the mortal blow was dealt to the enemy known as death, so that one day, the saying could come to pass, that death was swallowed up in victory. Christ, the Lord, is risen today.

Luke 24:1-8 NRSV.

But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, taking the spices that they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in, they did not find the body. While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men in dazzling clothes stood beside them. The women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee,  that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.” Then they remembered his words.

Happy Resurrection Day!  Although Easter (the name of which comes from the goddess of spring/fertility among pagan religions that venerate her via customs such as colored eggs, egg-laying bunnies, etc.) is, unfortunately, too often mixed in with the resurrection of our Messiah, His power over death, hell and the grave and our promise of resurrection is what this day is truly about and is to always be lived to the fullest and celebrated by His redeemed!

"But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep....But each one in his own order:  Christ the first fruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming." - I Corinthians 15:20,23

I forgot about that card! I would have used "He is Risen" but I used it in a previous post. I went with TGT because of the open tomb, empty cloths and the word "Empty!" in the identifier!
