Finally, the day has come for us Kansas Citians. One gigabit upload and download with no data caps for $70 is an AMAZING deal and already far beats my fiber provider in both speed and cost right now. If that wasn't enough, they also have a plan offering residents absolutely free internet (guaranteed for at least seven years!) for only a one time installation/construction cost of $300 (or $25 over 12 months). They are also offering a package bundled with Google TV and gigabit internet for only $120. And if that wasn't cool enough, none of the service will use traditional remotes...it will all be powered by Googles latest Nexus 7 tablet. Seriously, is there anything Google can't do?
You can find more information and pre-registration (for us beyond lucky Kansas Citians ;D) at http://fiber.google.com/about/ (http://fiber.google.com/about/).

So I called my current internet provider today (Time Warner Cable, Kansas City's largest cable/internet provider and the nations #2 cable/internet provider) basically inquiring how they will prevent me from switching to Google Fiber. The retention specialist claimed Google Fiber will not support anything not android based. I was like...what? I seriously lol'd that was her best counter argument. I mean, really? Do they expect anyone in this day and age that knows a shred about the internet to buy that? I then asked her where she got any of her information about Google Fiber and she wouldn't answer me. Pretty terrible.
Additionally, I found this while reading some Time Warner vs Google Fiber articles online:

Pretty underhanded.
