A nice pile drive to the fact, or a punch to the face!
I've got a brilliant idea... why doesn't Lancelot go?
So if she weighs as much as a duck... then she's made of wood... and therefore... a witch!
Eritha Franklin, she's a big lady... but once she gets on stage everyone wants to party with Eritha!

"INCONCEIVABLE!" "You keep using that word... I do not think it means what you think it means."
"HALLO! MY NAME IS INIGO MONTOYA! YOU KILLED MY FATHER! PREPARE TO DIE!"
the whole Miricle Max scene. "true love is truly the greatest thing in the world! except for a good MLT, mutton lettuce tomato, when the mutton is nice and lean..."
the whole death of Vizzini scene. "YOU'VE FALLEN INTO ONE OF THE CLASSIC BLUNDERS! the first is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but ONLY SLIGHTLY LESS WELL KNOWN IS NEVER GO AGAINST THE SCICILIAN. WHEN DEATH IS ON THE LINE!!!!!! A HA HA! A HA HA! A HA..."

basically that whole movie.

Quote from: pulp fiction
the path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. and i will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. and you will know my name is the Lord when i lay my vengeance upon thee.

I'll begin with how I peeled back the layers of the boy's mind. Oh, he bravely tried to fight it at first. You would've been proud to see him so strong. But all too soon, the shocks and the serums took their toll, and the boy began to share such secrets with me. Secrets that are mine alone to know... Bruce. It's true, Batsy! I know everything. And kinda like the kid who peeks at his Christmas presents, I must admit, it's sadly anti-climactic. Behind all the sturm and bat-o-rangs, you're just a little boy in a playsuit, crying for mommy and daddy! It'd be funny if it weren't so pathetic.
[pause] Oh, what the heck, I'll laugh anyway. HA HA HA HA HA HAA!

A E-cookie to the first one to ID the movie and speaker of this line, an extra E-cookie if you can tell me the voice actor.

"Rosebud." (Citizen Kane)
"Where we're going, we don't need... roads." (Back to the Future)
"Dee-na-mee-tay." (Hoodwinked!)
"Dignity. Always, dignity." (Singin' in the Rain)
"The murderer is right in this room. Sitting at this table. You may serve the fish." (Thin Man)
"Well, of course we talk. Don't everybody?" (Singin' in the Rain)
"How could I forget about you? You're the only person I know." (Bourne Identity)
"Don't call me Shirley." (Airplane)
"Roger...Pay the two dollars." (North by Northwest)

Some Awesome Dialogue:

Don: Cosmo, call me a cab.
Cosmo: OK, you're a cab.  (Singin' in the Rain)

Cosmo: Talking pictures, that means I'm out of a job. At last I can start suffering and write that symphony.
R.F.: You're not out of job, we're putting you in as head of our new music department.
Cosmo: Oh, thanks, R.F.! At last I can stop suffering and write that symphony.  (Singin' in the Rain)

Flippers: What's with the handcuffs on a little girl? Her wrists could slip right out! How about a cage?
Bill: (enthusiastic) Bring in the cage!
Flippers: I was being sarcastic.
Bill: (disappointed) Sarcasm, strike the cage... (Hoodwinked)

I've been meaning to watch that movie again...so good.

One of my faves:
"VoilĂ ! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.
The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous.
Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V."

Great... Thanks Justin, now I need to go watch V for Vendetta....

Some of my faves:

Sanderson Reed: They're indestructible.
Allan Quatermain: No, just armor-plated.

~ LGX

Commander Anderson: Have you ever been in a combat situation before?
Stanley Goodspeed: Define combat, sir.
Commander Anderson: Shep?
Lt. Shephard: An incursion underwater to re-take an impregnable fortress held by an elite team of U.S. Marines, in possession of eighty-one hostages and fifteen guided rockets loaded with V.X. poison gas.
Stanley Goodspeed: Oh. In that case, no sir. Excuse me...

~ The Rock

Capt. Bart Mancuso: [Ramius comments in Russian to Borodin that Mancuso is a "buckaroo". Ryan laughs] What's so funny?
Jack Ryan: Ah, the Captain seems to think you're some kind of... cowboy.
Captain Ramius: [in Russian] You speak Russian.
Jack Ryan: [in Russian] A little. It is wise to study the ways of ones adversary. Don't you think?
Captain Ramius: [in English] It is.

~ The hunt for Red October

Rhodey: Hey Tony.
Tony Stark: I'm sorry. This is the fun-vee. The hum-drum-vee is back there.

Later in the movie, Rhodey: [upon rescuing Stark] How was the fun-vee?
(Iron Man)

I don't think that is possible, and that just came from a guy who just swam ninety-two miles without arms or legs (Mr. Lunt, The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: The Movie)

R2-D2: [beeps] Uh-oh.
Anakin Skywalker: We lost something.
Obi-Wan: Not to worry. We're still flying half a ship.

He's a Sith !?!?!?!? :o :o :o  (Mace Windu, Star Wars, Episode 3)

Just from Marx Brothers movies alone:

   Groucho:

(on the telephone) What's that?  You want to know where to get a hold of misses potter? I don't know, she's awfully ticklish.

Why a four year old child could understand this.
Run out and get me a four year old child,
I can't make head or tail out of it.

Well, that covers a lot of ground. Say, you cover a lot of ground yourself.
You better beat it - I hear they're going to tear you down and put up an office building where you're standing.
You can leave in a taxi. If you can't get a taxi, you can leave in a huff.
If that's too soon, you can leave in a minute and a huff.
You know, you haven't stopped talking since I came here?
You must have been vaccinated with a phonograph needle.

Groucho: How would you like a job at the mint?
Chico: Mint?  I don't like mint.  What other flavors you got?

yet SO MANY people remember these quotes the exact same way; I wonder why.
I often find myself trying to relate a funny quote to a friend or family member, and in so doing I once in a while botch the words up a bit. However, if the friend has not actually seen what I am describing, or does not remember it, but we both like it anyway, we form a fond but incorrect memory of it the way I describe it, and get used to quoting it that certain way. That friend may then proceed to do the same with another friend, and he with another friend, etc., until it spreads enough that the majority of people remember the quote incorrectly. I can imagine this same general process might be catalysed by a movie review from a popular magazine, for example.

So, that's my theory. :)

And "Play it again, Sam" was never spoken in Casablanca.
And "Elementary, my dear Watson." was never written in a Sherlock Holmes story.

Best English Teacher EVER!

This same teacher gives us extra credit for writing 'Shakspearean' insults on our quote quizzes from The Taming of the Shrew.

Back on topic:

I apologize if this was posted already; I couldn't remember if someone put it up or not. But it's by far one of the best quotes ever!! :D

Operative: "That girl will rain destruction down on you and your ship. She is an albatross, Captain."
Mal: "Way I remember it, albatross was a ship's good luck, 'til some idiot killed it." (to Inara) "Yes, I've read a poem, try not to faint."

River: "Jayne is a girl's name."

River: (trying to eat an 'ice-planet') "My food is problematic."

Wash: "Little River just gets more colorful by the moment. What'll she do next?"
Zoe: "Either blow us all up or rub soup in our hair. It's a toss-up."
Wash: "I hope she does the soup thing. It's always a hoot, and we don't all die from it."

For all you Shakespeare fans (and yes, this was in a movie based on the play):

Katharina:
"Fie, fie! unknit that threatening unkind brow,
And dart not scornful glances from those eyes,
To wound thy lord, thy king, thy governor:
It blots thy beauty as frosts do bite the meads,
Confounds thy fame as whirlwinds shake fair buds,
And in no sense is meet or amiable.
A woman moved is like a fountain troubled,
Muddy, ill-seeming, thick, bereft of beauty;
And while it is so, none so dry or thirsty
Will deign to sip or touch one drop of it.
Thy husband is thy lord, thy life, thy keeper,
Thy head, thy sovereign; one that cares for thee,
And for thy maintenance commits his body
To painful labour both by sea and land,
To watch the night in storms, the day in cold,
Whilst thou liest warm at home, secure and safe;
And craves no other tribute at thy hands
But love, fair looks and true obedience;
Too little payment for so great a debt.
Such duty as the subject owes the prince
Even such a woman oweth to her husband;
And when she is froward, peevish, sullen, sour,
And not obedient to his honest will,
What is she but a foul contending rebel
And graceless traitor to her loving lord?
I am ashamed that women are so simple
To offer war where they should kneel for peace;
Or seek for rule, supremacy and sway,
When they are bound to serve, love and obey.
Why are our bodies soft and weak and smooth,
Unapt to toil and trouble in the world,
But that our soft conditions and our hearts
Should well agree with our external parts?
Come, come, you froward and unable worms!
My mind hath been as big as one of yours,
My heart as great, my reason haply more,
To bandy word for word and frown for frown;
But now I see our lances are but straws,
Our strength as weak, our weakness past compare,
That seeming to be most which we indeed least are.
Then vail your stomachs, for it is no boot,
And place your hands below your husband's foot:
In token of which duty, if he please,
My hand is ready; may it do him ease."

That has got to be my all-time favorite quote from any movie.  It also perfectly represents why I love that movie.  Few movies really "get" that it takes more than impressive action sequences to make a strong character like Gladiator did.  The action was great, and it isn't even what I remember about the movie, because the characters were so fantastic.
