Title: Favorite Bible verse.
Post by: Felix on June 07, 2009, 02:36:30 PM
Mine would have to be Proverbs 15: 10- "Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die."

Nope. It was Michael.

Did you know each of the Christian archangels represent a Platonic element?

So Michael is a octahedron, Gabriel is a icosahedron, Uriel is a tetrahedron, and Raphael is a dodecahedron? Not in my books, unless you're referring to something else.

The apocrypha is an extra-biblical collection of Jewish writings.

Of course, mention of the four archangels is scattered all throughout Christian tradition.

As for the four elements thing, the belief is probably more widespread historically among magicians and users of the occult than in the writings of the actual church; I'd have to do more research into it. The Jews believe seven archangels, if I remember correctly, so it's an exclusively Christian belief.
Oh, and I meant wind, water, fire, earth. I don't actually know which angel is which.

Why would a Bible verse be inappropriate?

My favorite is Proverbs 8:34-35.

Why would a Bible verse be inappropriate?
It's the one where Paul makes this certain threat to the Galatians...

I don't remember any "threats" in Galatians.

I don't remember any "threats" in Galatians.
Essentially, he threatens to castrate the Galatians.

Which is why it wasn't an appropriate verse. One professor at Yale mentioned that many people believe the Bible to be a children's book. She then said she would NEVER recommend the Bible to children or let her children read the Bible until they were of age.
