Title: Fantasy Basketball
Post by: Sean on October 05, 2009, 01:20:02 PM
Anyone interested in a Redemption league for fantasy basketball?

I will create a league when we get 8 or more players.

I'd go for it.

YES! I didn't even know these things existed...  ;)

Let me know when to draft.

As someone who never did it... can I have some tips? How is it scored? Do I just want the people that score the most points or is defense required?

Typically it's the 5 major statistical categories that are scored: points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks.

I've always used yahoo and its standard also includes 3pointers, field goal percentage, free throw percentage, and turn overs.  If there is enough interest we can determine our scoring options later.

I think I'd use ESPN for a Redemption League though, I'm starting to like them more than yahoo.

Please use ESPN. That would be much easier for me.  :)

I'm not a fan of free-throw percentage... this discourages picking dominant centers.

Not really, the way it is set up you have to have players that fill each position.  Also, not all centers are poor free throw shooters.

I may be interested in this...problem is: I'm not a member of ESPN where I am a member in Yahoo.  I've never done a fantasy draft of any sport in ESPN either.  So I would be a little lost...You sure you don't want to set a second one up in Yahoo?

The drafting is very similar so I don't think you'd have difficulty with that.  I'm actually finding that ESPN does a much better job and the information available is also better and more thorough for all fantasy sports.  With the current number of interested persons I don't think two leagues would really make sense.  I'm not opposed to yahoo so we can just take a vote of the people who want to play and we'll go with that.  I hope you or anyone else wouldn't be deterred simply by the website we happen to be using.

Also, being a member isn't any different for ESPN than for yahoo.  All it takes is a user name and a password and you're good to go.

Looks like I'm better served playing in the ESPN one anyway...I can't remember my yahoo account password so I can't get access to it anymore.  So I will play in an ESPN fantasy b-ball league.

I'm going to give this just a few more days.  It doesn't seem to have enough interest to be able to make a good league.

We just need 2 more right?  If this league takes off then I request the #1 pick!   ;)
