What your girlfriend failed to mention is that she had to sell that ring you bought her in order to buy it...  ;)

And he sold his Playstation 3 in order to finance the ring.

right now im trying to calibrate the tv properly...after doing extensive research on the internet, apparantly a new plasma tv owner has to 'break it in'...using low contrast and brightness settings for the first 100 hours or so. i dont know. do any current plasma owners have any advise with this?

So each of them get to draw every time the other one draws?!?  That makes absolutely no sense.  Some things have absolutely nothing to do with Redemption.   :P

Turn it on, leave it on. For 100 hours. Trying to watch TV normally on low brightness/contrast can be a huge pain if you're a stickler for good quality video; it's really easier to just leave it on all night for a few nights in a row instead.

is it really necessary to leave it on for 100+ hours straight? reason i ask is because i dont want to go to sleep at night and it accidentally gets stuck on a channel, causing burn in. personally, i dont mind watching it in low settings as i know it'll look far better after the break in. is this still ok? i also read somewhere to break it in using a non-hd source (standard definition), is that advisable as well?

To make matters worse, MKC, Panasonic recommends you do not play video games on the plasma TV until after break in is complete.

Not me--the manufacturer; I'm just the messenger.

This does raise interesting questions about possible ulterior motives on the part of MKC's girlfriend.   ;)

that is insane.

It's nice to see you taking this well.  ;)

They are worried about burning static images (e.g., health meters) into the display.  Avoid those and you should be good.

er, that might be a problem...cod, like most shooters, uses a hud that has some static stuff...like ammo, health, level-up bar, etc. i might be in some trouble. :(

i just noticed you linked from the avs forums, which i've been perusing all day, reading up on how to break-in my plasma. they have some people on there that really know their stuff.

The post I linked to was just a copy of an e-mail from Panasonic's customer support.

Hmmmm.  Let's see...  MKC will have to survive a little more than four days without video games.  MKC got his present three days before Christmas, which means the fourth day is Christmas.  What a strange coincidence.  ;)

If you start feeling shaky or suffer any other symptoms of withdrawal, take two of these

You don't understand. The reason he needed a new TV was because he forgot to use the wrist strap while playing Mario Super Sluggers on his Wii.
