Title: E-Reader/Kindle
Post by: Chronic Apathy on April 19, 2012, 04:01:08 PM
Hey guys, I'm the market to pick up an E-Reader in the next couple days. My only real stipulations are it has to be perfectly readable in bright sunlight and my price range is $200 or under (under preferred). Right now I'm thinking of going the Amazon route and buying just the basic Kindle. Any other suggestions?

I have the Kindle Fire (splurged for apps and comic books) and I very much like it. I don't really do much outside (other than walking to/from campus) so I can't vouch for the usability there, but where I use it (indoors) it works great.

Yeah, I'm maybe looking at a Kindle Fire, but I don't know how it performs outside. Do you think you could take it out for a couple minutes if it's bright out where you are and see what kind of visibility and glare on the screen you get?

So, it was still pouring when I went out, but when I tilted the screen toward the sky, the glare was kinda meh but probably doable.

I don't think this'll help much, and if you really want to know your best bet is to get hands-on experience before buying one (whether if someone you know has one or going to like Best Buy to see if they have a test model).

Next time it's sunny out I'll try to remember to take it outside for testing, but idk when that'll be (or if I'll remember, haha). :P

Step One: Narrow your search to 3-4 models
Step Two: Go to your nearest best buy and as to test each on of them out
Step Three: When associate returns and asks if you have any additional questions, say Nope I like this one, gonna go home and order it on amazon
Step Four: Strut out. Not walk, strut
