This started within the last two weeks. My computer will randomly have a lag spike that will freeze it for about one minute. I've run spybot, comodo anti virus, and malware bytes but it says nothing is wrong. Any other ideas on how to fix this?
Also, I can move the cursor on the screen.

Define "lag spike." Networking or just the PC? How old is the computer?

A little over a year. Everything but the mouse locks up. Sometimes it will just be one program, other times the whole thing.
I am currently contemplating a system restore but I am not sure how much that will help.
-
I've never seen a system restore do much. I've seen that kind of behavior with corrupted system files. Try something like CCleaner.

Ran CCleaner, I knew I was forgetting something. Will keep ya updated.

Did you run the AV in safe mode? or with a normal start-up?
-
If all else fails, back up your files and run a system reset. You should be doing that every 6 months or so anyway.

+1 with most of the suggestions. But sometimes it just takes a re-build. I had a 2005 HP that I recently backed up the files I was keeping, wiped the hard drive, loaded Windows 7, re-loaded my files, and now it's blazing faster than before...on the same 2005 hardware! :o

Did a scan with CCleaner, wonderful results. The issue still remains, though much less frequently.

You'd be surprised at the junk that accumulates over time. I'm going to do that....soon.
