Okay my nerdy self has a question: I am looking at ordering some card sleeves off Amazon and I am wondering if the inner sleeves would be useful. I know I tried them before and had trouble getting the inner sleeves to remain straight when using the regular card sleeves. Both were dragon shield brand. Any thoughts? :) Thanks guys!

I just place my decks in the sleeve I am going to use. No muss No fuss.
Godspeed,
Mike

Is matte the better or no?

If you really like a super smooth shuffle feel, I'd recommend matte sleeves. I do want to point out though: Not many card sleeves handle cards from 2013 and back well due to their height. Dragon Shield, however, still does.

Is that any of the dragon shield sleeves or a particular style?

I use Legion and Ultra Pro with decent results, but I am not that picky. I get sleeves I like the design of and roll with them.

Standard sized Dragon Shields are best. Fortunately, they have released them in matte as well.

Sorry for the double post.
I got some KMC Perfect Fit sleeves in the mail today and I can confirm that they work well with both sizes of Redemption cards. Looking forward to double sleeving my current deck. :)

I take it they work well with the Dragon sleeves? Really more concerned for the URs and promo cards. :)

They can! But with Dragon Shield, the process is a bit trickier. They made a video tutorial on how to do it with theirs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyJPKvymIcY (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyJPKvymIcY)

I guess to respond to the original post inner sleeves are not normally used by most players but that's not to say they aren't good. Mostly inner sleeves provide an extra layer of protection for cards so things like moisture don't get to the cards as easy. Inner sleeves naturally also make decks seem larger and are harder to shuffle because of it. There is also more upkeep cost to maintain the inner and outer sleeves since inner sleeves are fragile and often get messed up when re-sleeving and rarely during play. I personally would say it comes down to personal preferrences and if you want to spend a little more to protect your cards further than what many would deem necessary.
All that said i've been using inner sleeves for about 5 years now. I started back when I did play MTG more competitively and had some decks that were $1500+ in value. It naturally made sense for me then. I continued the habit even after I quit magic mostly due to the preference for them and still use them for all my T2 decks. As for personal recommendations if you choose to use inner sleeves I would use dragon shield and pick your preference of matte or standard sleeves. (Contrary to popular belief this is a difference in the card front which the matte has less glare in "feels" better to shuffle for many where standard sleeves have a glossier front finish and tend to feel stickier after repeated use/abuse) The reason I recommend dragon shield is because they are always among the most durable sleeves (which if you are concerned about inner sleeves the durability of the outer ones matters) and because inner sleeves fit well in them. The second best choice imo is Ultra-Pro Eclipse sleeves which are actually very good. I would prefer them over dragon shields if they didn't have a tendency to have the tops of inner sleeves stick out particularly with the old card style for redemption cards. As for inner sleeve brands or type that's mostly personal preference and I have found little reason to say one is better than another. I personally use dragon shield smoke inner sleeves as the backs are darker and thus help eliminate/minimize opacity issues with many lighter colored outer sleeves. I also use top loaders over side loaders as it just makes more sense to me to top load the inner sleeves and bottom load the outers after. no real reason for that other than thats what I prefer.
Sorry if this is a bit long but hopefully it helps. There are plenty of good brands and products out there so ultimately I would say it does come down to personal preferences.
