I was reading a thread that went like this:
" On a related note, I have been banned from major tournaments. I was playing Justin Alstad and started using fake cards that I had printed just before the tourney. Justin didn't notice they were fake, but the judge (Schaef) did, so he banned me.
Too bad, too. My Fezzik card had dominated and won several lost souls. Indigo was discarded early on, but I healed him in time to defeat The Twelve-Fingered Giant.
You would have gotten away with it if you hadn't been rhyming everything your opponent said to you. "
This exchange was SO funny to me, but I didn't want to reply to it and take the thread off on a tangent. I was wondering if we could have a thumbs up/ thumbs down(or "hilarious" or "makes me mad" ect.) function to rate individual posts. It may discourage tangents, and it would increase feedback on people's posts.

There was that "karma/praise/whatever" function that got added before, but people were like "HOW COME I DIDNT GET A Plus 1?!?!" and so it was removed.
-
People complained, but it wasn't unfair, just reality. I mean, how can JDS not get a +1 for every post he makes? :dunno:

can't we try again?
-
If it were individual posts and not the individuals themselves, it probably wouldn't get that out of hand.
-
At one point, a system was implemented that would allow people to +1 posts. So many objections were raised to it on various different levels that it was gone after about a day
:edit: instaposted. I step away from my desk for just a bit... ::)

It was ratings on individuals!!!????
That's crazy!
Colin is right (you can quote me on that)

As requested. Now you can never say you never said that. Unless I get moderated.
I would find this system useful. People could avoid using sarcasm to voice their disapproval of a post, and just signal their disapproval. Or approval of course. It could also be a way to allow people who don't have anything else to say except for voicing their agreement to show their opinion.
Unfortunately, I think abuse is inevitable, so if it doesn't happen I won't be surprised.

I think it's worth the risk. It will increase communication and understanding, but decrease the amount of posts.

I'd be all for it, but I fear another spate of little kids whining about why they don't have +1000 lolololol on everything they post. Perhaps banning any complaining about rating would fix the problem.

maybe a "please grow up" button?

This is the reason why facebook has a like button but no dislike button ::)
-
I think we should have a "like" button, like facebook.
