Don't tell me that! I probably will have to get them soon.

I have incredibly straight teeth. I have never needed and probably never will need braces.  ;D
Sorry.

Retainer = As bad or worse than braces in my experience. Just once you think it's over, it's not.

I had braces for a yearish. Had to completely adjust how I played trumpet and build up callouses. Then I got them off and had to readjust. I decided it wasn't worth it and picked up guitar.

Had 'em in middle school. The day they came off was a great day.

The worst parts of braces (so you're prepared):
1. The week or two immediately following when you get them.
2. The day or two immediately following adjustments/tightening over the course.
3. Getting used to the foods you "can't" eat while you have them.
4. Headgear (pray you don't have to have this).
5. Remembering to use the retainer post-braces.

The best parts of braces:
1. Flinging rubber bands (if you get those).
2. Having fun with color combinations for the bracket bands.
3. The day you get them off.
4. ........not really anything else.

Also, be prepared to burn through toothbrushes. Braces absolutely destroy them.

I need em. I don't want them. But I will. I play trumpet too.

I didn't want them either, but now I don't regret it at all. Giving up the trumpet, maybe a bit of regret, but my life was starting to get busy, so something had to go.

I had braces for three years and am still on the retainer.  If you learn to eat like a duck, you'll be fine ;)

What the heck could you mean by eating like a duck? Eating stuff out of a pond? ::)
