I think I'm going to have to say In Bruges for now, but once The Curious Case of Benjamin Button comes out I think it'll be a serious contender.
I like The Dark Knight a lot, but it was overrated. Heath Ledger was genius, and the writing was really good, but overall I think the movie doesn't deserve the hype it's been getting. My prediction is that TDK will occupy my number three spot for best movies of the year unless Benjamin Button somehow fails to deliver; however, with David Fincher at the directing helm and F. Scott Fitzgerald the literary inspiration, the film is almost guaranteed to be awesome.

Iron man. I liked that one better.
-
Anyone who didn't vote TDK, needs to go watch their choice and TDK back to back and then come back and vote honestly. (I vote TDK)

I watched TDK twice in theatres. And I still like Iron Man more.

Best Overall: The Dark Knight (schweet cinematography)
Most Creative: Cloverfield
Personal Favorite: Fireproof
-
I like The Dark Knight more but I think that Ironman is like .02% away from being tied with TDK.
-
Yeah, I thought Iron Man was really good - especially the graphics!
-
TDKß
-
I went to the midnight premeire of IronMan and TDK and I think TDK just edged it.
-
Slumdog Millionaire. Easily. The movie is just gold... a mixture of City of God and Who Wants to be a Millionaire = Best Picture
-
"Why....So...Serious?!"
I VOTE THE DARK KNIGHT! ;D
-
I just saw Gran Torino. It was awesome.

I have no intention of ever wasting three hours of my life watching The Dark Knight ever again. In my book The Dark Knight is right about tied with the X-Files movie for worst movie I saw this year. Ironman was a very good movie, it would probably get my vote if I felt like I had seen enough movies this year to deserve to vote.

And you thought Elijah knew how to call down fire from the heavens. ;)

So my initial assessment was close to the mark, but not quite. I think best movie of the year probably goes to Slumdog Millionaire with Benjamin Button coming in second after all. The Wrestler takes third, and The Dark Knight weighs in somewhere behind In Bruges, Doubt, The Reader, Gran Torino, Revolutionary Road, and Che Part One/Part Two. ;)
