Title: Athiest Player
Post by: m14 on August 02, 2012, 11:25:30 PM
Hello all!
So before I start delving into the community that is around this game, I feel obligated to ask: is it alright that a non-christian is trying to play this game? I realize that it is Biblical in theme, but that doesn't deter me from trying to get back into this game from my childhood. So again, does it bother any of y'all that I am not a believer, so long that I act in a civil manner like everyone else? Thanks in advance!

I'm a believer of Jesus Christ and I don't play this game.  Welcome!

We have had a lot of atheists, agnostics, and skeptics on the boards at various times, and it has usually been no problem. Try not to be offended if people assume you are Christian when you post (since most people on here are), and as long as you aren't rude or insulting to those of us whose beliefs are obviously quite different from yours, then we certainly welcome you to the community. Don't be surprised if some of us offer to pray for you though, we do that a lot.

Welcome to the community, and I hope you find being a part of it a worthwhile experience.

I have a high degree of respect for atheists, because of the courage such a belief requires. Welcome.

I would like to say, that we should all be glad that you are here. According to the Bible, Christians should all be accepting of others amoungst us. If we were not doing this, we would be going againsr Christ's teachings. Im not saying we always follow His teachings, but this is one case were it should be easy for us as Christians to do.

Not only are you welcome, but you're allowed to voice your dissenting opinion without fear of institutional censorship.

If we DID mind you being here, that would make us a bunch hypocritical idjits.

1 - Welcome to the forum, I (and many others) are glad to have you join our community even if you are not a Christian.

2 - We are primarily focused on Redemption and so your religious beliefs really don't affect those topics much.  We also discuss other interests that people have such as My Little Pony (still don't get that), fantasy sports (football is about to start if your interested), movies (TDK gets a lot of respect around here), music (most people seem to be into relatively hard varieties of rock), and other games (SSBM particularly a while back).  Most of these also will not probably interact with your religious beliefs much.

3 - We also sometimes have discussions about politics and religion.  These are the areas where there is most likely to be controversy.  But like you said, as long as you treat people with respect, most of the people here on the forum will treat you with respect as well.  However, beware that there are a small but sometimes vocal group of people here that may jump to conclusions based on what you post, and who tend to have difficulty responding gracefully.  Feel free to report posts like that, and I'll see them and try to help resolve things.  But you should be aware that it will probably happen at some point.

After all, this is only an internet forum, and miscommunication is inevitable.  We're all human :)

Welcome!  You'll probably end up having more issues with grumpy old men like me than any of the Christians on the boards.  ;)

You won't see me much in threads that are inane or taken too seriously, such as politics, religion, animals, non-prophet deck designs, or any other 21st century topic.

You will, however, see a lot of me in the sports section, discussions of classic rock, ruling threads promoting fabulous new rules like not being able to redeem demons (you'll find my reputation proceeds me on that one ;) ), anytime A New Beginning is mentioned, discussions of fishing and boats, or any other 20th century topic.

Have fun!  Enjoy life and Redemption!
