Since it is nearing 2009, I wanted to ask if anyone has any information on the New Set.
Thank you and God Bless,
The Rrulez
-
I do... but it's top secret. Sorry. 8) :police:
-
I want to cry
-
Yeah, it is called [censored by ROSES]. It has [censored by ROSES] and [censored by ROSES] and [censored by ROSES]. Also, instead of tins, Cactus will use [censored by ROSES].
Hope this helps!

I do... but it's top secret. Sorry. 8) :police:
But do you really know... 8) Yeah nothing has officialy been announced ( even some of the promos from roa still havnt been announced yet ) and "it" is still very much under the wraps.
EDIT
*Note The only thing that was semi announced was at nats Rob said to some people that asked was that "Starters were planned" on being made, nothing was ever officialy announced though and this was also said 5 months ago.
-
yes I do. And as [sensored by ROSES] said, it has [sensored by ROSES] and [sensored by ROSES] and [sensored by ROSES]. Oh and there's a new [sensored by ROSES].
-
From what I've read and heard, I would have to say that the next set will be unlike any set ever released in the game of Redemption. I think it will help the game financially and that it will help level the playing field for new players to the game. If you like formulating new strategies this set will be for you!
-
I think the person who will get the most out of and like the set the most will be RR :P
-
I like how ROSES has changed from [edited by ROSES] to [censored by ROSES]. And that two posts later, it forgot how to spell 'censored'.
As for the speculation, remember that Rob said:
- not a starter deck
- not a tin
- not a foiled wrapped booster pack
-
Therefore, pre-constructed, Tournament playable, Theme Decks is the one conclusion that makes the most sense ;)
-
Ah, but perhaps making dollars is a little better than making cents.
-

you mean it's gonna be like [censored by ROSES] just like the game [censored by ROSES]?
-
you mean it's gonna be like [censored by ROSES] just like the game [censored by ROSES]?
Yes, but not in the way you think.
-
Now you've given everything away. I know what the next set is going to be. It's .....
{{pointing behind you}}
What in the world could that be??
-
you mean it's gonna be like [censored by ROSES] just like the game [censored by ROSES]?
Yes, but not in the way you think.
It's all so clear now. How oh how could I have been so blind before.
-
All I know is that once Easter comes and goes we start to get a steady trickle of hints and stuff from the play testers.
-
Now you've given everything away. I know what the next set is going to be. It's .....

What? I don't see anything... why are you laughing?
-
*Pays captain hammer to throw a car at your head*
-
What? I don't see anything... why are you laughing?
I'll tell you in a minute...
-
*pushes pause* this is truly like watching the movie *grabs bowl of popcorn, sits back to enjoy the rest and pushes play on remote*
Godspeed,
Mike
-
But first, let's drink. Me from my glass, and you from yours.
*pause* I think I'll try to get all the 'top secret' info from my brother at some point here...but getting it out of him will be tricky. :P *unpause*

You guessed wrong.
-
You only think I guessed wrong; I switched the glasses while you had your back turned!

I've spent the last 5 years building up a tolerance to iocane powder

Iocane comes from Australia, as everyone knows, and Australia is entirely peopled with criminals, and criminals are used to having people not trust them, as you are not trusted by me, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you.

Ok, I was close from memory:

Ya know I once took a quiz on that movie. How many times does he say he cannot choose the wine in front of the man in black (In some way shape or form?).

"Ha! You fell for one of the classic blunders, the most well known of which is, never get involved in a land war with the Romulans, but only slightly less well known is this: Never go in with a Ferengi, when profit is on the line!"
.... wait, wrong Wallace Shawn reference. ;D
-
Wait a second! There are Romulans in the new set?!?! Awesome!
-

Actually, no. Schaef was cross-referencing movies, like the time Indiana Jones arranged for Marion to kiss a Wookie, right after destroying the Nazi tanks with the Millenium Falcon. He then later went into hiding in an Amish village in Pennsylvania, because he knew that Irish bounty hunters were searching for him.
As for the new set, Schaef was hinting at the fact that there would be Asians and Sicilians.
-
Asians, Sicilians, AND Romulans. (Oh, my!)
The Romulans were a greenish "brigade" in the old Star Trek CCG by Decipher. We decided that, since that game is dead, and since we needed something to do with pale green besides Assyrians, we'd just slip a few Romulans into Redemption that way. I'm sure most people won't complain. HINT: they have an interesting connection to Rome as well... and that's all I'll say about that.
-
Come to think of it, Unclean Spirit does look like a Romulun. Lying Spirit does too, except for the red tint to his skin. Will they be reprinted in Pale Green (without the wings, of course)?
-
Shhhh. Beware of ROSES.

I was so good at the old Star Trek CCG; I had an amazing combo that allowed me to download my entire deck.
As for the mixing up of movies, the six fingered man has some pretty interesting trademark guitar solos, so I hear.

I liked that movie so much. Especially when he emerged from the Amish village as the kick-butt President of the United States and used Air Force One to stop that drug cartel right before he found out that the replicants were living in San Franciso.

Inconceivable!

I am so much more confused than I was before...how do i put up with all you strange gamer guys? :P

So.... We are getting a Romulus and Remus card? and maybe a she-wolf animal?

...which is the amount of time it usually took him in his '55 Chevy, as long as a tire didn't blow.

It was not a Chevy, it was a Bentley. He had the chauffeur's daughter change the tire when it went down. I get choked up every time, though, at the thought of his chauffeur getting killed by a Columbian rocket. Just think, his pal Shortround might have died too had it not been for the lightsaber and tauntaun.

Yeah, but when he and his nine buddies decide to blow up that bridge in Yugoslavia--right before he took his family and moved to the rain forest--that was pretty good. Of course, when all the clues start to point to him as the murderer of his mistress you can understand why he accepted the command of the first Soviet nuclear sub.
Hey, Mierz, if it's truth you're looking for, Dr. Tyree's philosophy class is right down the hall.
-
I have no idea what you guys are talking about.
-
Just know that Harrison Ford wears a hat, and that bad things happen to those that knock it off.

he staples it on. No fake. Ouch!
-

You did NOT just make a Mosquito Coast reference.
... I'm debating whether it's actually more embarrassing that I actually knew that. Still... worst. movie. evar.
... except The Beach.
-
I don't know. Have you ever seen Rosalie Goes Shopping? We stopped that one after like 20 minutes it was SOOO bad.

I had to balance out making the first Blade Runner reference. There was a danger of wyn overload.

This just about sums it up.
(Was actually produced by Ben Folds, who I just got back from seeing play).

WOW, schaef, I think I could come up with several movies worse than that
Stop, or my Mom will Shoot
Leonard Part VI
Demolition Man
Rocky V
Rambo III
Rambo
....Ok anything with Sylvester Stallone except Rocky 1-4 and Rambo 1-2
need I go on?

I thought we were talking about George Lucas movies.
Back on topic... how would George Lucas release the new Redemption set?
1. 3D cards that can only be viewed with special 3D glasses available on his website
2. Talking cards that use THX technology - that is, they get louder over time
3. Cards that have built-in weaponry, like lasers and poison darts, for the full gaming experience
4. Cards with characters that you've never heard of because they were cheaper to license
-
WOW, schaef, I think I could come up with several movies worse than that
The Mosquito Coast was worse than all of those.
-
The Mosquito Coast was worse than all of those.
Agreed, although Howard the Duck comes close.
Back on topic... how would George Lucas release the new Redemption set?
5. Re-release Warriors with new computer generated updated art work, and annoying special abilities. Both of which seem specifically designed to suck all good feelings and joie de vive out of the original beloved set.
-
Okay, enough bagging on Angel Wars, already. I kinda liked the set. ;)
-
How come no one bags on the Warriors anymore? That seems like the perfect set to slap a few bags on!
-
Spades anyone? :D
Godspeed,
Mike
-
Okay, enough bagging on Angel Wars, already. I kinda liked the set. ;)
I liked Angel Wars, too. However, I think he was talking about the new Star Wars: Clone Wars cartoons. ;)
-
Actually, I thought the Clone Wars cartoons were getting better and better (even though my kids couldn't watch the season finale--it was just too much that I had to edit that they wouldn't have seen anything)
-
I like them, too. However, I have found that I needed to do a lot more editing and "explaining" during this cartoon series than I had expected. The bad language used by the clones is unnecessary. They seem to be trying too hard to create the "atmosphere of war." If I wanted "realistic" war scenes with "realistic" language, I would watch Apocalypse Now. However I would certainly not watch it as a family movie, which is what we were doing with the Clone Wars cartoon.
-
Right, I watched them ahead of time because of the language and some rougher scenes. Most of the cartoons had 1 maybe 2 parts that i had to mute or stand in front of/FF. The last episode was more than just one or two scenes as you know. I agree that they were trying to make it grittier and darker to appeal to adults and kids in addition to make it seem like "real" war.
-

Actually, I think he meant the new films. I won't speak for Matt, but I really like the new cartoon. I actually think it's the best interpretation of the Star Wars universe on TV or film, with the possible exception of Empire Strikes Back.
-

I was referring in part to the newer films, but also to Lucas's annoying habit of taking the old films and making them "better." Blah...

I liked the episodes of the Clone Wars that played on Cartoon network. I didn't go see the Clone Wars movie, because my most trusted film critic (JSB23) told me he thought that there was excessive Lucas meddling making the movie pale in comparison to the cartoon series.
-
Dats just nutsen. It was just the first three eps of the cartoon season, why did he have to go and ruin it by not letting other people perfect his vision the way Kershner, Marquand and Spielberg did?
-
I love the comic relief of the droids in the cartoon series. I wish they had thought of that before JarJar.
-
Isn't this kind of off topic? ;)
-
I tried to get it back on topic, but Schaef started talking about the Mosquito Coast again.... ::)
-
It's cinematic evangelism. There is a fire shut up in my bones, to make sure no one watches that abomination ever again.
On an unrelated note, one use of my time minding the baby has actually been to watch the prequel films again. They are my guilty pleasure.

I didn't even know that The Mosquito Coast had prequels. :P
-

The Egg Coast
The Larva Coast
Like all good movies, it was part of a triology.
-
Ha! :D
That was truly excellent, YMT.
-
The Egg Coast
The Larva Coast
Actually, I think they were called The Harrison Fjrod and The River Phoenix.
