Title: An Artist not so Unknown.
Post by: soul seeker on August 13, 2009, 02:06:07 PM
Have you noticed how a lot of Redemption cards say "Artist Unknown"?  I have.  Well there is an interesting story connected to this....

I celebrated a prominent date in my life by going to Washington D.C.  We had so packed our day with awesome stuff that we only had 10 minutes to go through the Smithsonian Museum of Art to get to a painting I wanted to see.  As I was hurrying to it, I passed by a very familiar sight; upon closer "Inspection" I discovered that a Redemption card is hanging in the Smithsonian!  I had my wife quickly snap a picture so I could "inspect" my redemption cards and compare.  I was right!!!  It is a redemption card!  Unfortunately, in my hurry to get to the other painting, I didn't take a picture of the plate with the Artist name.  So, in some ways, the artist is still unknown but not really!  Because it's in the Smithsonian with the name right there.  So one of the redemption cards is wrong!  The artist is known, and it's answer is in the Armand Galleries section (I'm pretty sure that was the section we were rushing through).  I really wish I had the presence of mind to snap a picture of the Artist's name.  But trust me, it's not unknown!

An added note for all you chess lovers, I picked up the coolest set from the National Archives.  A North vs. South set which has special meaning to my household being that I was born and raised in the South and my wife is from the North.  She will not play me in chess for fear the South will win!

Maybe it had the same effect on whoever put together the card - they knew that someone did it, but couldn't for the life of them remember! So it is, still, an unknown (to you and me) artist.

Oh, I mentioned it...I was just curious who would catch it.   ;)

Apparently I disguised it too well.   8)

Guess I didn't inspect your post close enough.

Wow I had thought he had said it. I guess not. It is hidden.

My guess is the card is a Site, but I don't know any sites about "Inspection"

oops...I misspelled "sight" for what I was trying to say...I will correct that.  (I was using it the same way as the phrase "you're a sight (or site) for sore eyes"  I think I have it corrected now.  That should make it a lot easier to figure out which card it is.

Dont look for a site. Just inspect the card list pretty closely.
