I'm just curious to know how many of the "elder" generation are playing Redemption. I bought my first starter decks when the game was introduced - I'm 48 years old, and a wife and mother now. Of course, I wasn't always a wife and mom, you know - I once was a young, single computer programmer and gamer. Now I have a daughter who is about to turn 9 years old, and she's interested in these Redemption cards that I have (I have quite a few), and I'm teaching her to play. I wondered, if I were to attend a tourney, for example, would I be the ONLY person there my age? Just curious. I didn't stop liking the game just because I got older!
-
well my dad he's 41 plays and where are you located?
-
Currently Cleveland, but moving back home to Texas soon!
-
I know of at least four or five regular adult players in my Minnesota area.
-
i'm in AL ad what sets are your cards from?
-
I know about 3 adult players in my area.
-
Welcome to the boards!
I am 40 and I taught my son to play when he was 8 (three years ago). I play at the tournaments and I am usually not the only "elder." A quick look at the National Rankings seems to indicate that several elders play enough to earn lots of points. ;D

Hey, you will not be the oldest person at the New York state tournament if you decide to come to it!!! You ought to check us out...We're approx. 2 1/2 hours from east Cleveland! (I-90)
You take i-90 to I-86. The tourney is May 29th & 30th. I'm 33, my wife is 34, and Al is probably in his 50s (because he has grown children.) Seriously, it will be a great tourney to attend and not that far from Cleveland.
Actually, you are closer to the NY state tourney than you are the OH state tourney! Think about it and let me know!

I'm almost 20, so I'm technically an "adult" player. :P
I've found that most of the Redemption players at tournaments are adults, in legal terms, but you probably are speaking of "elders" as in those who at least remember the 80's.

44. And the only way I win is to spin yarns about the good ol' days during my games with younger folk. ;)
-
13 (one of the youngest on here I just hope I've proven I'm not the most immature)

Well if maturity is rated as a ratio of years spent being a productive citizen to years spent being selfish, then I rank much higher on the immaturity scale than you. ;)

I have no idea. I would have just said "tooshay." Hooked on Phonics worked for me! ;D

oh yeah :D

21, in august i'll be 22

I'm about to turn 33, and plan to be at the OH State tourney. However, there are several other people who will be there from OH who are as old or older than myself. Crustpope, Schaef, Uthminister, and Al Collins (forget his new board name) should be in attendance. And I don't know the ages of some of the other adults that often come to OH tourneys (Knight-o-time, TechnoEthicist, and the Stroh Bro's.
-
26 Prof, so yes overall I'm still quite young :P
-
38. With a 12 and 8 year old actively playing and on the boards also (from time to time)
Godspeed,
Mike

20 here.
-
31 here...trying to make a state or regional this summer.
-
I'm 30 and I am hosting the Ohio State and Midwest Regional...maybe we will see ya there!
-
I'm 32 and I hosted the National Tournament in Columbus, OH last year.
That doesn't have anything to do with this year but Matt and Travis were making me feel left out. :P
... which actually, since they co-hosted with me last year, still kind of makes me the little fish in the pond ;D

I know about 3 adult players in my area.
Is that an insult? Your three are obviously Bryon, MJWolfe, and my dad. I'm 20, and my brother is 18 (although "about adult" does seem about right in his case... ;)).

i am 18

I guess we're letting Dane Cook into the boards now huh.
Anyways, seriously.

I'm roughly 35.5 years old. My son (11) plays regularly at tournaments, and my oldest daughter (8) plays in our home games sometimes, too.

Dang it >.< I always get them mixed up

I've never mixed up Jeff Dunham or Dane Cook. I just remember "Jeff Dunham is the funny one."
-
Or the cleaner one.
-
or the one that actually uses puppets... ::)
-
erm no DC wins humongously in the funny part
-
I'm 24... many in my playgroup are at least college age... but I have lots of friends who play that are in their 30's and 40's (everyone that previously mentioned their ages :))

26 here and currently the oldest redemption player in the area, but anyone in NorthEastern area of MD is welcome to prove me wrong.
-
Currently Cleveland, but moving back home to Texas soon!
Our Texas tournament host has stopped hosting tournaments recently. Starting next tournament I will probably hosting more tournaments, I just need to get the money for it and ensure that there will be enough people there. It'd be hosted somewhere in the DFW area. Where would you be moving to in Texas?
On a side note, we have a couple older players. We don't have too many players in general, only a good 11 or 12 that would show up to a tournament.
-
Oh, wow!! Thanks for all the responses!! To Red: I go all the way back to the A and B decks, limited and unlimited, various of the earlier booster packs, warriors, etc...
to others:
I will definitely look into the New York tourney, thanks!!....
Lawfuldog: When I am back in Texas, it WILL be the DFW area. I worked at the Family Christian Store in Irving for a few years. When I started working there it was The Living Vine, and I stayed through the change-over, but about a year after the FCS bought the place, they reorganized management, eliminating middle management. So, I am here. Anyway, of course I was there when the whole Redemption craze started!
I am so happy to hear that I won't be rejected for my age when I try to assimilate myself back into the gaming community! Am very excited that my 8 year old daughter is showing so much interest in the game, as well as my Star Trek cards. They keep you young, don't they? The kids, I mean, not the cards. I think...
-
A and B decks? WOW you got any warriors angels?
