I just thought of this serious question that I need answered.
If you take a prosthetic leg and wack someone with it, are you hitting them or kicking them?
Share your thoughts and discuss.

Very serious question says the guy with a sniper assassin kitten as his profile picture....
It would be hitting, as kicking implies a lower field of attack.
-
Definitely hitting, even if it's your own prosthetic leg.
-
So more serious question: if you cut of your REAL leg and hit someone with it right before you pass out, is it kicking or hitting?

The answer is "kitting", which he eludes to in his profile picture. ;)

Chuck Norris wouldn't pass out so the kitting would be ongoing.
The genuine, real question is if the bone in your leg punctures the skin of the victim is it stabbing or battery with a compound fracture?
-
Good question Stamp... I'd say it's stabbing.

:rollin: XD
wow, how could i miss this thread?
but to be honest it doesn't matter whose leg it is, it's neither kicking or hitting
it's whacking

I think the primary determining factor is the main muscles used to perform the whacking motion. In this case, since the arm was most intimately involved, I'd call that hitting. However, if the leg was attatched*, your leg muscles** are most involved, in which case it would be kicking.
*correctly, at least
**or whatever is left of them

Kicking
- to strike with the foot or feet
- to make a rapid, forceful thrust with the foot or feet
- the act of kicking; a blow or thrust with the foot or feet.
Hitting
- to deal a blow or stroke to
- to reach with a missile, a weapon, a blow, or the like, as one throwing, shooting, or striking
- to succeed in striking
- to strike with a missile, a weapon, or the like; deal a blow or blows
- an impact or collision, as of one thing against another.
- a stroke that reaches an object; blow.
Since the foot itself isn't doing the thrust, it's hitting.
-
No you are making a thrust WITH the foot... that falls under the def of kicking.
-
Thrust = the act of applying force to propel something. In this case, the "something" is the leg. The arm is thrusting the leg, thus, a hit.
By that definition, a prosthetic leg couldn't kick someone, even if attached properly, as the prosthetic leg itself cannot thrust.
Also, only a foot can kick, not a leg.

I feel sorry for pirates.

Well, clearly you are striking with the foot or feet (kicking) but you are dealing a block or stroke to the victim as well (hitting). So STAMP was right on when he said kitting. Hicking is also acceptable, but it just sounds weird.

In the deep south they generally use the term, "Hicking". ;)

so from what i can find even if you kick someone then you are still hitting them.
Here are my :2cents: if you hit someone with the leg then it would be hitting if you are wearing the leg then it would still be hitting.
