Title: A Public Apology
Post by: SomeKittens on September 14, 2010, 12:36:21 PM
Some of you may have read the recent discussion between MKC and myself over PC vs. Consoles.  This is a regular debate, no matter where you go, but unfortunately this one was different.  I let my emotions get the better of me, and instead of keeping my cool and actually debating, I let my side turn into an argument, ending with attacks on my fellow board member, MKC.

TheSchaef ended the conversation with this comment:

These personal attacks are ruining the experience for everybody, and it's going to stop.

I apologize for my part in this, and, instead of setting an example as the Bible exhorts me to do in 1 Timothy 4:12, proving myself still spirituality immature.  I'm sorry that that example of my behavior is still on the boards, and hope that everyone can forgive me for my lack of self-control.

In order to further myself in this regard, I'm going to step away from serious involvement in any debates here for a while, and I'd appreciate it if you guys would keep me accountable.  Stress here at college is enough without getting myself involved in another discussion akin to this one.

Finally, because I think this is much to serious for off-topic, a tl;dr:

(Ok, not actually Some Kittens, but close enough)

and i also like to note:
i never meant anything by it.
i wasn't comparing him to me and i wasn't calling him a noob.
i was just simply saying he reminds me of myself.
i apologize if i caused any offense

That was mean. And uncalled for. And ironic.

Yes.  If you no longer are attacking your opponent's points, but rather your opponent, you've crossed a line.

Not to mention on a logical side, it's a logical fallacy called "ad hominum." (I think, I can't spell)  :-*
