I completely agree with Bubble.  LOVED the first movie and couldn't wait to see the second.  Almost got up and walked out of the theater on two occasions during the 2nd one because it was so nasty.  Hope they get back to what made the first movie so successful.  This time though, I'll be looking at some parental reviews before I waste my money paying to see it.

The first movie of every movie series is always the best. 
     Transformers was its own story,but Transformers 2 started a new one that did't relate to the first one that much.
I can't imagine what Transformers 3 is going to be about.

I just really think that Transformers 3 is going to be the end of the series and is going to be like spidy 3 where the ending story was horrible and cheesy.

Indiana Jones 3 was better than the first one

HSM 2 was better than the first one (it actually showed why the mean girl was nice at the end)

Critics (if you actually listen to them) say that Star Wars 2 (the original sequel) was the best in the series.

I'm sure that people would chose a different James Bond movie to be the best instead of the first one.

There's probably more but I am still half asleep.

    +1 with ya.  Transformers (1) was robots fighting each other,2 was a little bit of everything and 3 is going to be a series ender.

Don't know if I'm gonna go to the theater to see it.

I agree.  The best way to ruin a great action flick is for some female character asking the male protagonist, "What are you feeling or thinking about?"

It almost, I repeat, almost ruined the latest Star Trek movie.  The Uhura/Spock thing just didn't belong.

"I need... for everyone to continue performing admirably."

Besides, that's what happens when you create an alternate timeline: things are mostly the same but subtly different.  Uhura and Spock hook up, Agent Dunham keeps her gun in her jacket, and there are polar bears on the island.

I completely agree with the latter.  The former is not the greatest line given.  It's okay but could have been delivered in a different context rather than following the sappy "what do you need" romantic relationship-type line.

You bring up a point as to why I think the Star Trek series will be better than ever, and why I can't wait for the next installment.  They've introduced the alternate timeline.  And after watching the special features on the DVD I am convinced that JJ Abrams is the right guy to pull it off.

Didn't hurt that they had almost the entire (surviving) original cast on set to meet with their counterparts and give their blessing to the new production.  Nimoy in particular: the story would not have worked without him, nor the ties to the old series, so he literally could have killed the entire project if he didn't like the pitch.

Definitely goes without saying but now that you bring that up I think if they keep Nimoy et al involved it will only get better.

On that note, what storylines do you think are possible for the next installment, especially now that we have the alternate timeline?  Do you think we'll see Khan?  The Romulans are supposedly dead but you know how movies are...they can alwayd find some surviving members of the race somewhere in space.

well, I don't know what level of involvement the old cast will have now that they've "passed the torch"... I know Nimoy in particular has recently retired from acting and public appearances, so it seems his return to Fringe in the two-part season finale was his swan song.

I think Khan will appear eventually, he's Kirk's nemesis, but I don't know if they'll go straight to that card right away, tempting as it may be.

The Romulans are not dead.  The Romulans 130 years from "now" are dead, and Nero and his buddies are dead.  The Romulans in the "now" are none the wiser for any of this, although now we have advance warning and can possibly save them to win peace.  Assuming a distrustful race such as they would even believe a story like that in the first place.

At this point, having a clean slate to work with, they could re-invent just about any story they want, or conjure entirely new ones.  It could literally be anything.  What gives me great hope for the franchise is they are not rushing to cash in another script right away.  That's what killed the TNG movie line, and it hasn't been very kind to the Transformers sequel(s?).

I did not like T1.  Buncha trash, boring.  T2 made T1 look good.  I had such little hope for T3 that I wasn't even going to post in this thread.

Once the movie versions of former comic/cartoon epic series' start deviating from the original plots and start over-romanticizing it, they begin to lose the "original" fans.  They've killed Megatron, what, twice already now?  It was a long hard battle between Optimus and Megatron in the original series' so to have basically killed him twice is pretty lame.  I'm not really looking forward to number 3.

Gentlemen, the reason why Hollywood romanticizes all the classic comic stories is that the other half of the population will then actually enjoy your otherwise nerdy films. Not to say I appreciate the unnecessary sexual scenes, but in general, a good romance will put a movie higher up on my list. Without romance, action/adventure movies are only so-so.

I don't like romance stories in most movies because they aren't accurate...  Besides, I did say that they OVER-ROMANTICIZE movies.  In the normal world, you don't just fall in love with someone because you're both being chased by giant robots bent on mayhem and destruction.  What's wrong with becoming best friends?  If the romance aspects of Transformers and other movies were more realistic, I might enjoy that half of the movie (And put in PG format would make it all the better).  That's just my opinion though.

1. Yes.  Prolly not as awkwardly blunt as T2, but there will probably be something.  Hollywood producers haven't realized that films no longer need the shock-value stuff to succeed (see: Pixar, the most consistent studio in the business).
2. With Hollywood's franchise craze at the moment, it'll keep going until one flops.  But it may not continue with Michael Bay... he seems tired of them.
3. No.
4. T1 - 6.  T2 - Never saw, but from what I hear, a 2-3.  But this is from someone that has The General as a standard to measure films by.
5. No.  It very well could be good if well written by someone with reasonable moral standards.

1. Yes. As long as Bumble Bee is in it, that is one sexy car.
2. It's Transformers and they are here to help us. Same ol' story.
