Title: The 2018 Community Created Card: Name voting!
Post by: The Guardian on January 17, 2018, 01:31:13 PM
So originally I thought we would have a final list of 15 or so, but there were so many great submissions that I'm going to list a few more than that. Last year Gabe posted a list of 34, which I think was a bit too many, so we're going to split the difference and go with these 24.

There were 59 total entries. I included any entry that was nominated and "seconded" by another person. After that, I tried to include single vote entries from as many different people as possible. I don't think everyone who submitted a name ended up having one of theirs on the list, but pretty close.

Three votes per person, voting will end Sunday, 1-21 at ~3 pm CST. After this "primary" round of voting, we will take the top choices (# TBD) and have the "election" vote to make the final decision.  8)

EDIT* Please see announcement below regarding a potential change to the voting deadline.

Due to the great response in such short time (45 voters in less than a day!), I may shorten the deadline for this first round so we can move on to a secondary round of voting with the top vote-getters. Once the voting slows down, I will announce a final 48 hour deadline for the first voting round.  8)

Just curious is there any chance we could get three votes per person and then take the top five and do a single vote per person say in three or four more days?

I have several that I really like but I don't wanna waste my vote on one that ends up getting three or four votes and has no chance.

I like that idea...I was already planning to have a second voting round with the top vote-getters, but seems reasonable to allow everyone to pick their top 3 and then see which ones come out on top.

For those who had already cast a vote, you can click "Remove vote" and then you can make an additional two selections if you wish.

The number of choices for the final vote will depend on the voting tallies. For example if we have 5 top entries each with 8-9 votes, we will narrow it down to those 5. If we have 3 entries with 12-13 and then 4th place has only 5 votes, then we'll stick with those top 3.

So I spend all that time being your (non-)hired goon; reminding folks they were limited to three choices, and neither Diklah or Meshillemoth make the list.  Harumph...

Don't you see? I'm trying to goad you into coming out of competitive play retirement so you have the chance to make one of those a player created card when you win Nationals  8)

I feel like next time you've got to put all unique submissions into a poll, then choose from the top 5, because now we are voting for things like maggots, Kedarlomer of Elam, ostriches, and pharisees over Nebuchadnezzar Humbled the Ox. Personally I'd vote for him, but there was supposed to be no "campaigning" so I didn't second it.

And how is Fear/Horror an evil character?

By "campaigning" I meant posting about a specific card. If you had changed one of your submissions to NtH/Ox, it probably would have made the cut over Ostrich.

Fear/Horror was submitted by Josh K as an EC/EE idea (much like Sixth Seal/Terror).

To be fair Neb Humbled/ The Ox had several plus 1's one of them was a -1 but had I known that would impact the ideas making the cut I would've -1 a couple ideas myself

The Ostrich had a +2 whole Neb/Ox had a +4 with a -1

Neb/Ox or "Nebox" as I will now refer to him would've gotten a vote from me.

Sorry, I wasn't clear.

I made the decisions based on which cards were nominated more than once, not on which ones were given + or - (I actually used the + system to track which ones I had recorded, so I gave a + to all the entries).

All the cards that were nominated by two or more people made the list. From the ones that only received a single vote, I tried to pick entries from people who had no other of their nominations make it. (For example, none of Travis' submissions were nominated by someone else --so I picked one of his to add to the list). I tried to make sure that everyone who submitted an entry had at least one of their picks on the final voting list. I didn't quite make it because some people only submitted one name.

I’m curious why Og king of Bashan didn’t make the cut. I thought I saw two votes for him (mine and someone else’s).

NebOx would get 3 votes from me. Any chance it can be added by popular demand?

In my opinion, Jehu should not be considered an evil character at all. If anything, King Jehu might, but there's no option of a dual-alignment King Jehu without Jehu being on the other side. I'll withdraw my nomination for Jehu and vote for something else.

Because the nomination of King Jehu was withdrawn, I have removed his name from the list and replaced it with "Nebuchanezzar, the Humbled/The Ox."

You may update your votes accordingly.

Clarification-- the card would be Nebuchanezzar Humbled (GE)/The Ox (EC)

He is climbing quick,  especially for having a late entry

Voting has slowed considerably today so I'll adjust the deadline for this first voting round to end on Sunday--that way people can still adjust their votes between now and then if they wish.

It seems we have a pretty clear top 5 at this point, but there's still time for a late push from another entry.  8)

So we kind of have a top 6 and a top 3 right now. . .

Top 6 as of 5:15pm EST 1/19/18
Leviathan 22
Rapha 17
Nebox 16
Artaxeres 12
Nero 12
Absalom 11

With 52 different voters tallied not a single character reached the 50% mark.

I think the second round of voting is going to be crazy. Anyone of the top 3 and maybe the top 6 could find its way to the top spot!

Side note Justin is almost ready for a post party . . . Better make 10,000 a good one man! Woot woot!

Brown is the best defense in the game and it's not that close. Granted it gets access to hypocrisy through several Characters.

I got 5th at Nats in T1 with a brown defense, but crimson is way better.

Right, brown is definitely playable but crimson is just better in nearly every way.
