Hey guys,

If you want your card ideas turned into images, simply post the information in this thread and I'll make it using the new 2013 design!

Use the following guide for your card info:

Title:
Brigade:
Numerical Abilities:
Class:
Special Ability:
Identifiers:
Verse: (I'd prefer if you copy the full verse as well as the reference)
Border Color: (See Below)
URL of the image you would like me to use within the card. Higher resolution is better, and avoid images with watermarks if you can.

Regarding border color, refer to the following chart for color options. Most of these colors were pulled directly from the I/J set, with one or two additions to fill out the spectrum. If you wish to use a custom color, I can do that too, just let me know.

This is a very generous offer. We have a bunch of new playgroup members and historically I had made player cards for them but have gotten severely out of practice in making cards. Would you mind doing a few cards for our new players when I get the info you need from them and probably a picture as well? Do you prefer I provide a picture or do you like doing that part as well? Thanks!

If you can find a picture, that would be ideal. If not, I can definitely find images for the cards.

The larger the image, the better, especially if you want me to use the large 400 DPI template.

And that's why I had linked samples of the three template sizes in the original post.  ;D

When I say 400DPI, that means 400 dots (pixels) per inch.

That is one of the coolest-looking cards I've ever seen. I'd recommend Cactus print it and bring back packs with rarity just because of the sheer cool factor of buying packs in hopes of seeing that fellow staring at you from between commons and uncommons!

Well, they'd need to acquire the rights to print said image, but yeah, it worked really well with the size of the image box.

Slight update:

The original black outlines around the card and scripture box were bugging me with how faded they were, and the fuzzy "artist unknown" text was irritating me too...

So I went ahead and redid all of those parts on all the frames. See the comparison below. All cards from here out will benefit from these changes.

A slight note, only the basic color frames will line up perfectly with each other. However, these two frames lined up fairly well, so I went with your original idea.

The most ridiculous thing about this is that I literally had a dream the night before this that Lambo put together all of the cards for Cactus' new starter set. I sent him a PM on 8/23 to tell him about my dream before he posted this thread and he posted the thread before he saw my message.

I looked all over for a higher resolution image, but couldn't find it...

So, I just had to make do and scale the size up, which lowers the quality of the image. That's why Strength in Christ looks fuzzy, while Zephaniah does not.

The image you wanted for Isaac's altar was way too wide to fit in the icon box, so I found another similar one that worked better with the vertical image area. Also, I figured I'd give Sarah the same type of card that her husband had.

One note, I'll be updating the ability on The Final Battle to say: "Begin a side battle. Add all evil characters to your side and all heroes to the opponent's. Negate all characters and enhancements. The winner may return up to two of the opponents rescued souls to their territory."

Identifiers I'm using Arial, but it's supposed to be Verdana... I need to fix that.
The artist name and cactus stuff at the bottom is CG Omega.
Everything else I use Lucian BT, which is the closest I've found to Grail Light, which is the real font they use.

Special ability text and the titles on ultra rare cards get a shadow effect for better visibility.

While a few of these are overpowered beyond belief, I left them as you made them. I did however change Spirit of Distress. It was pretty much useless as you worded it before, and I made it territory class so it isn't outclassed by existing cards.

You don't have to. Pol just deleted the requests that had been completed. I'll quote the requests as I post images so that they remain after pol cleans them up.

You may want to reword that to say, "Protect your Red Warrior Class heroes held here from opponents." Otherwise this would make Red the strongest offense in the game without a doubt.

hmmmm good point.....that would make sense.  All I would have to do is put one hero in there all game long and then the rest of my reds couldn't be touched.  Yeah way too overpowered.  Kay i'll fix it.

I changed it to a White Covenant because... artifacts should be reserved for physical objects.

*EDIT* I just realized how absolutely overpowered this is.

It should say "If an opponent captures your hero, you may discard it to redeem a lost soul. May be used once per turn." or something...

It's actually extremely easy to do.

Since all my borders are individual layers, I just activate two of them, and erase half of the top layer (with a gradient to make sure it's smooth).

They all look great, but I noticed that on Pharaoh's Guards I put "Pharoh's Throne" instead of "Pharaoh's Throne Room" which was what I was thinking of. That is all that needs fixing.

Lampy you should check out the art for the old game Middle Earth CCG. Look it up on Boardgamegeek the game besides having amazing game play it has some of the best card art of any game ever made.

Wow, grats on being able to turn what are the most churned-out card ideas and make them look cool. (This isn't to disparage your card ideas, Dermo, all I mean is that the spiritual gifts and fruits of the spirit seem to be card idead every few months or so)

No disparage there.  I understand.  I'm learning that the people who make up the cards for the actual game are geniuses.  I'm learning the difficulty of putting an ability with a character/enhancement that matches their story in scripture.  Crazy hard! Some notes: (1) The art you had for King Esarhaddon was actually art of Nimrod. (2) The art for Susa was actually the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, but I couldn't find a better replacement. I have yet to see an Evil Character in the new design, so I assume this is how the icon box is laid out based on evil enhancements.

Since InDesign decided it was going to be stupid with RGB colors, I am working on porting this template into Illustrator right now.

The colors will look much richer on screen when I'm done.  :)

Some notes:

I couldn't find the original art for D&H, so I found something close. Also, I'm experimenting with a new concept for backgrounds. Rather than just having a set array of colors, pull a color from the image.

My evil character icon also looks a little off... I need to investigate what's causing that.

Not to nitpick an otherwise very nice template, but I know you're a perfectionist so I'll mention that your shield icon isn't centered. It became obvious when it was combined with the TC symbol.

It's currently aligned left with the edge of the Tclass icon. However, those are not the same size.

I wasn't sure exactly how it was supposed to relate to the icon box above it, but I can go ahead and center it.

*EDIT*

I'm noticing that Illustrator does not like to export the outline on the identifier text. I may experiment with a slight drop shadow on my next batch of images, similar to the one I have on the title.

I'm trying something else with these two. Illustrator does a better job of exporting text as it should appear, so light italic was coming out REALLY thin.

So, I increased the verse font weight on Haggai. Which do you think looks better?

So, I realized that I had an extra color of blue in my template, so every color after that was shifted up a number. These cards were still color shifted, but I'll be using the correct background colors from here on out.  :P

Also, Greed is one of the most overpowered cards I have seen. It's Mayhem on steroids.

I just figured that removing one or two of my characters would make it a decent cost to underdeck the card and use it again....of course now that I'm thinking about it....the card is in the territory for four turns and I may not be able to get the chance to use it again....game may be over before it even comes out again......eh....i can rework the card.   And I know greed is overpowered, but i purposefully made it that way to represent how powerful that sin can be.

Why would I ever want to remove my own EC from the game? What purpose does that serve?

So, a lot of the abilities and verses I've been getting are a too long for the box and I have to keep shrinking the font size down to make it fit. To avoid that, use these two lines as a guide for how much text can fit in each area:

Could you play around with this card? There's no option on the creator to make this card a good and evil character.  I split it into two cards in my thread to see what they would look like.  I would like to see if you can do anything with this on here.  Thanks!
