Post by: Rrulez on May 17, 2009, 09:39:41 AM
These are apart of a fun card expansion I'm making for my playgroup.

For Authority, I think it matched AoCP too much. Maybe make Authority a little bit strong, like 2-3, and instead of cannot be negated, how about "Interrupt the battle and discard 2/3 evil characters in battle. Opponent may discard X evil cards from his hand to interrupt this ability. Otherwise this cannot be interrupted. X=number of evil character in battle"

Since it's interrupted, opponent can play something to defeat your heroes first, but then if u negate that defeater, and nothing else happens, Authority starts again.

I like King Solomon, it's a nice idea. But maybe make it 2 successful rescue attempts?

Prayer of Petition is cool, but is it really necessary to set somebody aside for one turn just to get an enhancement out?

For Ruling Israel, since when would we need that kind of card? Pentecost, Feast of Trumpets, all those only last one turn. If that's the case, maybe we should make that enhancement to be used the same as a set aside enhancement;  play Pentecost, Ruling Israel, you get your hero back. Next turn you draw 6 cards. Yay!

I wouldnt reccomend letting your playgroup play with these but most of these ideas are pretty good though some are still pretty op'd.

First, I'd like to start by saying that you do an EXCELLENT job putting cards together in photoshop or whatever it is that you use.  You have an eye for detail and your cards almost always look REALLY well done.  As a fellow perfectionist I appreciate that.  :)

Here are some constructive criticisms.  They're mostly just little, nitpicky stuff that could make minor improvements to a job well done.  If you don't like 'em, just disregard them.  If you want, give them a try.

Horn of Attonement is a great card but wasn't that Pol's idea?  You might need to put a limit on it (like the Ram's Horn from Priests).  Playtesting will tell.

That pink glow around the special ability on a couple of the royalty cards almost gave me a seizure.  :D  OK, not really but I don't think it looks very good.  It does help the text stand out but I think you can do that and make it look better.  I've found that white text with a black shadow or vice versa almost always works to make your text readable.

I'm not quite sure why you changed King David's numbers.  I think they should stay 11/11.  The powers that be have decided that he is a King of Israel only.  By Redemption standards Kings of Judah are only those that ruled over Judah after the divided kingdom.  So his identifier should read "King of Israel, Prophet, Musician".

For King Solomon see my same comments about King David.  Also, he did not fight in an earthly battle and should not be warrior class.

Could you explain who Qoheleth is supposed to be?  I don't get it.  Sorry if I'm being thick headed.  :)

I don't think the game needs a second Authority of Christ.  You're really creative so I'm sure you can come up with another special ability that ties to the scripture you used.

Why did you cut the verse off for Solomon's Instruments?

The text on Ruling Israel is really hard to read.  Try using black text with a white shadow/highlight.  That will probably show up better over that artwork.

There's already a card with the name "Angel of Warning" that uses a Matthew reference.  You should probably choose another name for this one.  The ability is nice and silver would benefit from having some card drawing.  The problem I see is that this card will be tossed into many speed decks for a way to boost your hand by 4 cards (especially when there's not LS to rescue).  All the 1/1 Heroes have some kind of drawback (they get bigger, discard themself, etc).  My suggestion for this one is that he can only be used once and requires two silver brigade Heroes to work (there were 2 angels sent to warn Lot).  Something like "If you control at least two  silver brigade Heroes, draw 4 cards and discard this Hero after battle."  You still get to draw 4 total cards (to represent the 4 people that were spared).

Myster's scripture reference just says "reference".  It sounds like Revelation and leads me to believe that maybe it should be related to Babylon making it crimson/orange instead of brown/orange.

That's my :2cents: and then some.  ;)

King Saul and Horn were mine, yeah, but I like seeing my card ideas actually mocked up so I don't mind.

+1 with gabe.  These cards look great!

If I remember correctly from my wisdom literature class many moons ago, Qoheleh is the hebrew word for teacher in Eccelsiastes.  Tradition (and some scholars) would say that Qoheleth is Solomon (once again, I agree with Gabe and I dont think Solomon should be warrior class.)  So Qoheleth is another way of giving Solomon a different card.  Of course there is dispute in this area and some would say that Ecclesiastees is reffering to someone else...but I digress....

I don't think the game needs a second Authority of Christ.  You're really creative so I'm sure you can come up with another special ability that ties to the scripture you used.

I agree with Gabe.  This is too much like the AoC.  I like that it is Old Testament so that King Lemule can fish it out of the d/c pile but it should have different card art.  The name seems fine but something dealing with Kingly athority rather than heavenly or divine athourity should be used IMO.

Sorry if I didn't make it clear guys. These cards are for my playgroup, and they don't have access to cards like AOCP. Thats why I made that card.

And if he's King Solomon... shouldn't he be a king?

Quoleth is a bit confusing. You can search your deck for a good card in your discard pile?

I really need to redo alot of these. You just don't notice these errors when you make the cards.  :'(

Hey, don't sweat it.  You did a great job making them.

Playtesters design cards and then a group of 10 guys plus their playgroups spend months fixing these kind of things.  And they're the "pros".   :)

Did you really expect everything to be perfect on the first try?  You've got a talent.  Don't be discouraged!  ;D
