Title: Persian Stuff
Post by: asrgimli on April 24, 2014, 02:16:38 PM: This is my first time posting actual cards so I hope this works. I have created several cards to try to buff up the Persian defense theme with several more characters, a couple of enhancements, and reprinting the Persian sites. I don't know how to do the hover to reveal thing so if anyone wants to help me do that to make this post shorter, please let me know.

King Darius is supposed to be a choice between Hero and Evil Character, but I am using the card creater posted on these boards and it doesn't allow for that option, and I don't know how to change that.

I'm not sure if you are able to have sites with the same name but one with ability and another without or not. But if you are, I hope these sites can help give some territory protection as well as some other aid for the theme that they have. Persians seem to have a set-aside and capture theme, so I tried to run with that. Thoughts?

Your place-on-fortress ability would be a restrict, not a prevent. It cannot prevent the Hold on Fortresses that are identifiers, so it has to be "While this card is placed, restrict fortress's holder from placing or removing characters in this fortress." Something like that.

Artaxerxes is not a good idea, because he is the perfect splash defender for small not-really-there defenses. Give me a 1/1 that gets initiative on everyone (except a Suzzy with no other women, I think) for Plot and can also play anything else Brown CBN, and that is a perfect splash man. It would actually be interesting if your X was "number of your Persians in territory." Then, he can still be placed in territory without exploding, but to block with him, you have to have Persian support. Would take care of bad splash problems.

Post by: TheJaylor on April 24, 2014, 11:54:46 PM: I read the rest of the cards and I actually thought the same thing as Redoubter with Work Stopped after I read it. I feel proud of myself for catching that even though I wasn't the first. :P

However, I don't think that Artaxerxes would be all that great in splash decks. There's Suzie, Benjamin, Joel and the less-commonly used Jeiel and Naharai who would ask get initiative among with kings with the Throne of David. In my mind he wouldn't really merit a spot. Sure, he'd usually get initiative but he'd also usually kill himself after battle. I dunno. I just think there's be more useful ECs to use.

Post by: Knoxyouthpastor on May 09, 2014, 11:15:58 AM: Personally Lion's Den needs to be changed. If we go by Biblical accuracy, Daniel was protected not the Persians. The Persians were the ones cast into the Lion's Den after Daniel and they were not protected and eaten.

That'd be almost completely useless considering that there's only one generic Persian and it's the best Persian in the game.

I think it makes sense, Lions den delayed Daniel proclaming God, but eventually he was able to, and non-king persians were killed because of it.

Post by: megamanlan on May 09, 2014, 06:23:48 PM: If Artixerxes is supposed to be from the Ezra/Nehemiah story, then his effect doesn't follow the story at all. As the people who contacted him were not Persians, but other civilizations that were in the area.

Also Lions Den should be both a Persian and Babylonian Site (as it was in Babylon) and I would change the Discard to release the Captured Character there if King Darius and/or an Angel is in play.

Also Media is its own country that worked with the Persians not exactly the same thing...

But I like the cards though. Very cool!

Post by: asrgimli on May 12, 2014, 03:46:46 PM: I'll definitely admit that some of the cards (such as Lions Den) don't quite make perfect sense (at least the territory protection), but I am just trying to find a way to get territory protection for Persians. Most other groups have found a way to get territory protection, and Persians are kinda left out at the moment. Maybe I could get another fortress for them at some point and have that have the ability that includes the territory protection from discard.
