Title: New Artifact
Post by: Noah on July 23, 2014, 10:47:33 AM
Type: Artifact

Title: ?

SA: Protect all artifacts in play, hands, and artifact piles from discard. Cannot be negated during the battle phase.

Verse: ?

I couldn't come up with a Title or Verse as you can see so any suggestions on that would be appreciated.

This would stop one shot artifacts like Samaritan Water Jar, Darius' Decree, Stalks of Flax, Four Drachma Coin, etc. that you can't really do anything about before they activate, and pesky capture cards like Magic Charms and Unholy Writ (It also stops Uzzah as an added bonus :)). The only real disadvantage to having it active is that its taking up a artifact slot and if your opponent doesn't have one of those artifacts active its kinda useless unless you have ways to activate other artifacts you want to protect from discard.

One big problem is that artifacts cannot be protected from themselves, so self-discard artifacts would still be able to do so.  You may have to add something like "negate other artifacts that say 'discard'", or maybe "restrict opponents from discarding artifacts" or something like that.

Not true, but a common misconception based on that rule.

Only characters cannot be protected from themselves, all other card types can be.

Quote from: The REG
Default Conditions
 Protect abilities last until the end of the phase in which they are used.
 Protect abilities target cards in play.
Characters cannot be protected from themselves.

Oh, huh, well, I stand corrected.  Thanks.  Didn't know about that.

I think it would work better as a site.
