really dig it man.. i've had this idea for a while too. i think your ability is better than the one i came up with.

mine was..

generic male demon/giant 8/10 orange/black. you may draw 2 or band to a philistine. cannot be interrupted.

i think yours makes more sense

While the female hate makes sense, idk if so much of the card should be devoted to it when there are way cooler things about the Nephilim.

I like the ability, except I believe the last line reflects a popular but incorrect interpretation. Having the Nephilim part orange and looking non-human would probably lead people to believe in the view that they were demons (fallen angels), which is a view which for many reasons I believe is incorrect. Here's an excellent scholarly article by Answers in Genesis which explains this with great detail of Scriptural support and logical analysis: https://answersingenesis.org/bible-characters/who-were-the-nephilim/

Please keep this thread to the card itself. We don't need to have a debate on Answers in Genesis here.

Jesse - The card clearly has a Human identifier so if anyone is confused and think it's a demon then that's their own fault, regardless of whatever theology they personally believe. Also, why would "cannot be negated if a demon is in battle" make people think that this card is a demon? If it fulfilled its own condition then it would just say "cannot be negated."

I think it's perfectly fine to have it related to demons. Having the ability to splash orange into an antediluvian defense gives that theme more options.

I made it part orange, but human to show represent the part about the sons of God chasing after the children of men, and the nephilim were the offspring. They are not demons.

What did you have in mind? I'm really curious, because I would love to see this as an actual card!

First of all I know Ironisaac well (he's awesome  8)) and know that this was certainly not his intent at all, but I guess what's most troublesome to me about the card is that from the art and orange brigade (good point, Browa, about the ability - I didn't catch that!) it gives the suggestion with the verse that demon/beast-like creatures took advantage of/mated with human women (and additionally, were able to produce children despite God's design principle in creation for reproduction being "after their kind"). It's just a disturbing thought to me (and may be for others) and obviously isn't the thought or image we want to put in people's minds (especially if it's most probable from the Word that they were actually human). As I had mentioned, maybe if just the art were changed to make them more human-looking and then they were just pale green brigade, that would ease my mind about it  :D

I've wanted to see a Nephilim character in the game for about 10 years now. They are a very interesting part of Genesis 6. My understanding of who they are has certainly grown in the past 10 years.

When we were making the evil antediluvians I thought Nephilim's inclusion was going to be automatic. But there were two reasons we didn't print him this year.

1) Upon doing further research into who people believe the Nephilim to be I've found that there are at least 3 different theories, 2 of them being popular and at odds. While I believe it's important for churches and individuals to take a theological stance on controversial issues, as a game that we want to be marketable to the broadest number of people possible, it's best not to take a strong theological stance where there is controversy, because it could potentially alienate part of the customer base. Is it possible to create a Nephilim card that walks the line and doesn't represent either side strongly? Maybe. I wouldn't rule out the possibility some day.

2) There were hours spent searching for a decent quality, free piece of art but nothing was found.

For now the Nephilim will have to live vicariously through cool player created cards like those made by Isaac and others. Which reminds me, there are at least 3 cards in the new set that were inspired by player created cards which haven't been previewed yet!

Spoiler (hover to show)

...make that 2
