Title: King Xerxes
Post by: stefferweffer on September 15, 2010, 05:29:35 PM
10/5 Purple Warrior-class Unique Male Hero (King of Persia)

If Esther or Mordecai are in play, transfer an opponent's evil card in your territory to a valid location in opponent's territory instead as if you were eligible to play it.  Cannot be negated.

"...On the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to overpower them, the opposite occurred, in that the Jews themselves overpowered those who hated them."  Esther 9:1

How'd you get his name from that verse?'

Interesting card.

In the version I was reading at the time, NASB, the Persian King is named Ahaseurus, and it was he who was convinced by Esther and Moredecai to reverse Haman's plot.  I think in other versions he is called Xerxes or Artaxerxes.  But I would be fine with a card like this regardless of what name was used.

We did a sermon on this at my church and you are absolutely correct. The king was xerxes.

What would be the good thing about this card? Just like giving them brigades to rack up brigades with card's like Job Overcomes and stuff?

I'm not sure what dictates good/evil in Redemption (see Joab....) but he was Zorokawlejrpaos0dal;ibjlrjeoi or whatever Persia's main religion was at that time I believe....

He also got seriously lol'd at by the Greeks.

Zoroastrian?

I agree he should probably start out evil and maybe have a self-conversion clause. The SA doesn't do what you meant it to do, either.

How does the special ability not work?  Opponent does something evil to "me", and then this king turns it back on opponent.  What is wrong with that?  Would this ability be better used as a hero enhancement?

Well, it wouldn't change Abom at all since it specifies "opponent" and isn't actually contingent on being in their territory. It would affect Sin in the Camp, though. So, it's rather hit and miss.

I think there have been many ideas for this character before, and most of them have been self-converting.

I revised the ability to further to say "ss if you had played it".  Would that allow Abom to transfer?  What I have in mind is an ability that let's you transfer any evil card in your area, like Image of Jealousy and Destructive Sin etc, to the person who placed it instead.  Seemed like a cool ability.  When you think about it this king did that not only with Haman's plot but Haman himself too, hanging him on his own gallows.

King Xerxes (Ahasuerus is the Jewish name for him, not his actual name)
8/8 Brown Evil Character, WC
-May use any Evil Enhancement with "Place" in the special ability-
"Return opponent's Evil Enhancement in your territory to your hand. If Esther is in play, Convert to Purple after battle."

He wouldn't be able to bounce Abom back without the help of a Greek, but I think this is the best way to match your intent (and makes him stronger, too).

Since his ability to use "Place" cards is an identifier, this would be an epic combo with High Places.

Yeah, but not OP imo since Herods can already do this, as well as Romans and Philistines for the most part.
