Okay, let's all brainstorm an idea for a King Cyrus card! Break out your Bibles and get to reading. Post your ideas, and back them up with scripture. I'll keep track of them at the top of this thread. After awhile we'll vote on the ideas. Then we can get Lambo or another to put together our best idea. Then we can present it to the playtesters.

1) King Cyrus

1) Hero
2) Evil character

2) [good] Discard a Babylonian or a single color site in play. May band in all captured heroes. Cannot be Negated.
3) [evil] If another Warrior Class Persian is in play, set aside a hero in a territory for three turns. You may discard an evil card from hand to play the first enhancement.
4) [evil/good] This Character enters play as an Evil Character. When King Cyrus wins a battle you may discard an evil character to convert King Cyrus to a hero./You may search your Deck for any OT good fortress or discard pile for Temple artifact or return a captured hero to your territory.

What evidence do we have that we should be warrior class?
-
I believe the way cards have been designed thus far, any king who leads an army in battle is considered warrior-class.
-
Where does Cyrus lead an army in battle?
Isaiah 45:1-3 ?
-
That's how I read it. Furthermore, as evidenced by most of our Emperors, we need to consult Josephus and other historical documents to determine attributes.
-
Special ability: Return all captured Heroes to owners' territory. If Zerubbabel is in play search draw pile for Zerubbabel's Temple and put it in play. May band to Sheshbazzar. Cannot be interrupted.
Also, I'd like the scripture reference to be from Daniel so that he can be white. I'm not keen on him being red.
-
haha, didn't see this thread right away. anyway...
Hero: Purple/White/Red
Daniel reference
Warrior Class
Discard a Babylonian or a single color site in play. May band in all captured heroes. Cannot be Negated.
Identifiers: If another Persian is in play, this character is an evil character. if not, he is a hero. Male, Persian, King.
Evil Character: Brown

I would rather it be purple/white. And I like the idea of the card :-)

This sounds like my idea to create a thread, have everyone decide on their own abilities for the same card, and then present it to the playtesters... thanks for getting it going Stamp! Expect a reply from me soon. ;)

I would prefer to use the Isiah verse. The whole "Daniel Heroes" sub-theme needs to go away forever. Idk why people are so keen on improving what is possible the most restricted theme in the game, when there are plenty of good themes like Greeks and Persians that need stuff more.
-
Having a Daniel reference doesn't restrict him from being Persian but having an Isaiah reference does restrict him from being a Daniel Hero. You can have your cake and eat it too.
-
needs a more powerful special ability. lets not have another sucky nats promo.

King Cyrus Hero/Evil Character. Warrior Class
Brown Evil
This Character enters play as an Evil Character. When King Cyrus wins a battle you may discard an evil character to convert King Cyrus to a hero.
Purple Good
You may search your Deck for any OT good fortress or discard pile for Temple artifact or return a captured hero to your territory.
Might be a little powerful, but that was my thought, since he started out conquering and only after he was ruler he let the Jews restore Jerusalem and the temple. (you could take from deck for artifacts if its too powerful)

I was referring to having him be White. There's less than zero reason for him to be even partially White (if he's a Hero) other than the Daniel Reference boondoggle. Just kill the theme, it's stupid and bad.
-
I don't think we should be killing themes, we should be helping them. Especially the ones that have the least strength. Purple/White makes the most sense. Zerubbabel is white and that's a solid connection in addition to the Daniel theme in white.
-
The "Daniel Heroes" "theme" isn't even a theme. It has, what, six cards? With the potential for maybe five more? Of those six cards, none of them are good and only one or two are usable (barring the Angels, who aren't White). It was potentially a good idea at conception, but the execution was awful. I wouldn't even consider making the "Daniel Heroes" theme. If White needs an O.T. theme, have it be like Brown (all the cards that don't really fit in anywhere else). If it must be a theme, reprint all of the current "Daniel Heroes" cards to be useful against anything but Crimson, and make Daniel White/Green so he will be OP and potentially used in a Daniel Hero offense, rather than strictly in a Prophet offense.
-
Actually, it has 8 heroes (4 white, 4 silver), with the potential for some more. I know it is a very restrictive theme, but not nearly as restrictive as a Job theme. :)

Job theme isn't a Job theme. it's a patriarch theme. I really wish "genesis" wasn't the theme, I wish that Patriarchs were the theme...
-
but not nearly as restrictive as a Job theme.
Yeah, I know what you mean. There have been a lot of lay offs and I have a bunch of friends who are underemployed. This economy is torture.
