My idea:
In the Wilderness 4/3 Green/Gold Covenant
ID: Limit Twice, X= # of cards opponent drew
"Set aside your human hero for 3 turns. Once per turn while set aside, if opponent draws or searches during battle, you may search deck for a hero of the same testament as this hero, or set aside opponent's evil character for x turns."
Reference: Exodus- somewhere/ Mark- the chapter where Jesus withdraws into the wilderness after John the Baptist was beheaded
Your thoughts: ???
Thank you

might be better if it is evil character in territory. that way the covenant isn't a battle winner, as well as a way to potentially get half your heroes during your opponents turn.

I love the fact that it's a dual reference. The only thing I would suggest is making it trigger only on abilities that opponent uses, so you can't just Mayhem, Hellenistic Jews, Hur, etc.
I'll see what I can do to rejig the wording to include these suggestions, because I agree, it's just already getting a bit long so it'll be a bit of a challenge. Do you have any suggestions on alternate wording?

If you just drop the same Testament requirement, it would shorten it considerably.
Fair enough, this is what I have come up with based on the suggestions you guys have made:
In the Wilderness 4/3 Green/Gold Covenant
ID: Limit Twice, X= # of cards opponent drew
"Set aside your human hero for 3 turns. Once per turn while set aside, if opponent draws or searches via their ability during battle, you may search deck for a hero, or set aside opponent's EC from territory for x turns."
