What? paul's hero is amazing and already has a whole offense based around him! what does ezekiel have? One hero, two enhancements, and an artifact that only works if you have a babylonian to support him. Paul has 5 heroes, 3 enhancements, a dominant, and an artifact that all work well with him. it might not be extremly good, but it's better than a deck based around ezekiel as far as i'm concerned! :2cents:

I love that it's such a close vote even when it's just between the 2 of them. As much as I would prefer Watchman, if Paul wins this I can't really complain since it's been a great race so far.

You know who I voted for. Again.
The Watchman has the potential to be a pretty versatile Hero. He's been one of my favorites in booster since the game started, but unplayable outside of that. I've always wanted to see a remake of him. It's fascinated me that they made him a generic, separate Hero from Ezekiel back in prophets, making him a more symbolic character by doing so. In that vein, I see him as representative of the multitude of O.T. prophets, not just Ezekiel. Because of this, I don't see him as having to benefit only Ezekiel, either. ;)
However this goes, it should be interesting to see how it all turns out. Strong showing on both sides! :o

I would also prefer to see The Watchman as a generic representation of the O.T. Prophets, and not the same character as Ezekiel (although he should certainly fit well in an Ezekiel-based deck).

No one is saying OT Prophets are in desperate need of support, but there are many prophets who desperately need a reprint (Elijah, Elisha, Jonah, etc) and other cards like The Watchman that could just be really cool additions.

He is an ezekiel hero, so he would fit right in! and ezekiel could get him back from discard!

and so could Noah!! and eternal covenant! and chariot of fire! and raising Lazarus! and all of those other cards i am putting into my 150 card t1 deck!!

I think Paul would be a better fit and more help to the nt brigades than the watchman could be to the prophets.

But, are there any themes that REALLY need support? I've seen nt white women, and I think that the obscure Job theme needs some help, but you could make the argument that all deck themes can be uesed in the current meta. As far as I'm concerned, the only theme that could use some support is Angels and/or Demons. But, as was clearly demonstrated at nats this year, angels are still a force to be reckoned with. Imo, it's not even an argument of what theme need more support, but about what is cooler. And, imo, a generic ot prophet who is also an Ezekiel hero is way cooler than Paul, who will most likely be a clay green missionary. Regardless, we will be getting another prophet, so it's a win for green brigade! ;D

No but actually, i will agree with you there. it's almost impossible to run a good mono priests deck (in the current meta) without it being tabernacle, and they still have some trouble at that! IMO, the only way to run a decent priests deck is to have Red warriors/ Gold judges to support it, and priests will still end up taking the back seat in most of those decks!

You have to do a ton of work to get a guy who is basically Peter or Stephen that also makes Mercy of James and Faith of Samuel CBI, but at the expense of huge brigade liability and not healing/making Gam's Speech CBN or Underdecking evil doms and getting better initiative (respectively) in the bargain.

In all seriousness, I know this is just a game, but the game also represents our faith. In these dark days we are living in, with many within the Church falling away from the faith, I believe The Watchman is, prophetically, the representation of what we all or most of us should be. Not taking anything away from Paul, but what better choice of the Redemption community than to choose The Watchman to represent us, to be the spirit of our community--the spirit of prophecy, which is to know and proclaim the heart of our God, and to sound the alarm and to help wake our fellow brethren to fight the good fight of faith! Jesus exhorted us to Keep Watch in the last days for His return. How much more appropriate than to have this character represent the Redemption community to keep the charge of our Lord in these last days!

1. OT has all but 1 of the strongest offensive themes right now thanks to the CoW expansion.
2. If the support Paul got from TEC (Ananias, Blinding Light, Damascus) is so great, why is no one playing him?
3. I admit that The Watchman is pretty much "fair game" in terms of how creative we can be with the ability... But with Paul, you get to create 2 characters - a Gray Pharisee and a Clay/Green Missionary.
