Title: Generic Psalms/J.M./Control Boost! (Pt. 2/3) - Heroes & the Stronghold
Post by: Master Q on March 24, 2017, 04:07:54 PM
These are the Heroes to go with the generic Fearless Traveler theme (and a Fort). See part 1 for my thought process on how they were created. The Heroes are cbn to avoid messy scenarios, and also to tie into the whole "meek shall inherit the earth" concept.

Beloved Companion
Spoiler (hover to show)

-Can obviously band to any of the other Psalms Heroes in the offense (except itself). Quite powerful when paired with any of them, save Wise Counselor, who was purposely designed to work only with lone Heroes for more thematic reasons. Also has value in other offenses as a CBN band to a human Hero, though its targets are intentionally limited and the copy/or protect only works within its own theme. The defense makes it reliant on having at least 1 EC to be used.

Fearless Traveler
Spoiler (hover to show)

-This was originally going to be the only card, until I realized how easy it would be to flesh out the theme with the other Heroes and support. Big guy for when you don't want to cut low (stats are the verse #s shuffled around). Great for set up.

Faithful Servant
Spoiler (hover to show)

-Sort of an unkillable Hero that weakens evil characters. Great for if you want to get one specific card from top or bottom without losing your Hero.

Wise Counselor
Spoiler (hover to show)

-Encourages lone attacks, and makes KoT a non-threat to your little attackers.

Stronghold of the Oppressed
Spoiler (hover to show)

-More of an assurance against dominants than anything, as your little Heroes likely aren't getting cut low and picked off by evil enhancements. Requires you to stack your deck with the Hero abilities, unless you just get lucky. Only works with generic Heroes because it would be too strong otherwise.

As always, feedback/suggestions are welcome! I'd also love to see other ideas on how to expand upon this theme, as tons of different abilities/card ideas can come from this!

I think it should be stronghold for the oppressed

That is one letter longer though. Almost $1000 could be saved annually by keeping it of. ::)

I didn't even think of making it 'for'. But yeah, it was pretty hard to fit the title in there as-is. 'Of' also conveys some ownership, where 'for' might not. Which one is stronger though? That is the Q.

Great cards again, but this batch is a little strong with the CBN. Beloved Companion+Faithful Servant turns any banding card into a CBN battle-winner as long as you have a few ECs and having played a lot of Philippi lately, a CBN band/protect for a broad target spectrum is not a good idea. Bold Adventurer is great but when combined with Beloved Companion it's way too easy to topdeck 3 cards every turn (making it GG once you've killed their soul gen). Faithful Servant doesn't need "regardless of battle outcome" but does need "from any location."

Band in Beloved Companion who bands to and copies Faithful Servant to decrease by 2X CBN, and as long as you have half as many ECs as the highest defense among blockers that's a CBN win.

But Faithful only decreases the strength of the ECs, not the defense, so it should be good there.
