While glancing through the set list for PoC phase 1, I had an interesting thought. I'm sure that there's already an Elijah card that's being set up for release in phase 2, but here's an interesting idea for him.

The new Elisha is powerful, but has one glaring weakness: the prevalence of hand and deck protection. While this is certainly a good counter to his strength, while it's up he might as well not have an ability (in fact, it can be even worse if the opponent has Overtaken active or a similar effect).
Perhaps, then, his mentor should be able to help with this.

Elijah
7/4 Green Hero
Prophet, While in Land of Redemption Elisha is Regardless of Protection

You may play Rain Becomes Dust or a unique Prophet from deck or Reserve. Once per game, if Elijah would be defeated, you may negate an evil card to play a dominant. May band to Elisha. Cannot be prevented.
"At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: “Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command." 1 Kings 18:36

Two big ideas here, mostly centering around his interaction with Chariot of Fire. When Elijah attacks, he can wait until an opponent plays a battlewinner and immediately follow it up with negate, Chariot, and a newly-RoP Elisha in battle. While this ability can also be used for something like Angel or Grapes, it is a once-per-game, so even when you have multiple copies in T2 you can only use that powerful ability once.

I have no idea if the identifier works by current rule, but I think it's an interesting idea for him. Before Elijah was taken to heaven, Elisha asked for a double portion of his spirit; in game terms this empowers Elisha for completing the "Chariots Elijah" minigame.

Thoughts? The original idea included a King in the search, since God told Elijah to anoint Hazael and Jehu at the same time as he told him to anoint Elisha, but that felt a bit too all-encompassing.
ANB is good. Change my mind.
