Title: Continuing the tradition - Card Creator Test
Post by: Bobbert on November 14, 2014, 01:15:44 PM
Well, I couldn't let the Card Creator come out without making a LotR card or two, now could I?  ;)

Thoughts:
All in all, great job, Lambo. My main complaint is that it doesn't read accents (Sméagol, when copied, read Smagol on the card).
Out of curiosity, would it be possible to add a set icon?

I might be able to to fix accents, that's just an issue with font embedding.

I'm not really sure how I'd add custom set icons without you guys needing Photoshop or Illustrator.

There's a fairly simple way to make set icons and add them to your card images (after you export from the card maker) that uses completely free programs. I'm working on writing up a guide on that already actually, hoping to get it finished and posted this weekend.
-EDIT: Actually finished it up just now. You can see it here (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/new-card-ideas/creating-and-adding-set-icons-a-visual-guide/).

As for the cards, I think the Enhancement should say "or vice versa" rather than "and" otherwise I think you could convert him twice, lol. Should also be a colon not a semicolon after the place ability.

Nitpicking aside, I think they're okay. Smeagol is better as an EC than a Hero, lol. Not sure why the enhancement has numbers since it's always going to place itself (unless it's prevented) and I think it'd work better if it was TC.

Are you going to end up making a whole LotR set? Cuz that would be cool.

I actually meant to take the numbers off S&S  :P Yes, he's a better EC than Hero because, well, he's much more of an EC than a hero.
Also, S&S was supposed to be TC. I'll go redo it in a moment here.
I'm working on ideas for a LotR set, and I have a few dozen cards in an Excel sheet, but I need to stop playing WoT and Insurgency long enough to give the book a reread with the purpose of looking for ideas/references.

EDIT: Fixed Slinker and Stinker.
One more, very minor complaint: there's no DAE without numbers (like S&S). Which is fine, since none of them exist in the real game, but it makes S&S look weird.

Very good point. I'll see about fixing that.

Actually, Gameliel's Speech from the new set is a DAE without numbers but I think I saw in another thread that you hadn't seen the new cards much so I guess we'll forgive you. ;)

Indeed. I stand(sit) corrected.
