I don't recall any of those in the movie...I thought the name of the main character was Jake Sully?

There really aren't any new mechanics to be had without completely abandoning the fact that it's Redemption. The only thing that can be done that Redemption doesn't do is Counters, and I think that would fit a Merchants and/or Deacons theme much better than benders :)

mtg manages to push out 3 new mechanics every single year. theres still a plethora of untapped potential to be discovered within redemption besides just mashing together two already existing mechanics (tc enh are basically pseudo-dominants). how is it abandoning what redemption is by introducing fresh new mechanics to keep the game interesting? artifacts were completely out of the ordinary when introduced in warriors, and i'd hate to imagine the game without them now.

on a somewhat related note, i also think redemption needs an artistic update to the card template. the template was alright 10-15 years ago, but its grown pretty mediocre over the years. something new and perhaps more modernized (*cough cough* borderless anyone?) would certainly keep the game aesthetically fresh.

nah i think template should stay i hated when magic did it cause makes mixing old and new cards look like junk.

I noticed how your big post about there being plenty of new mechanic potential failed to mention any.

I don't think anybody really cares about what the background of the card looks like.
We can have 10 page long discussions about Thad or King Manny but not about their artwork.

As long as Redemption sticks to the idea of "rescue 5 LS to win," new mechanics will be sparse.  MTG has several ways to win.  Poison won't transfer well to Redemption.

Not to mention we already have poison, just not that kind  :D

Toph
6/4 Green Hero, WC
-Earthbender, Female-
"Negate all search, reveal, and look abilities. Look at all face-down cards on the table and opponent's hand. Cannot be Negated."

If you negate look abilities, you would negate yourself. U should put something like:

Negate all look, search and, reveal abilities except this one.
Look at all face-down cards on the table and opponent's hand. Cannot be Negated.

What do you think?

CBN is CBN is CBN.  He wouldn't negate himself, he's CBN

I wouldn't be opposed to a small change in the template, such as modifying the bible verse area, but nothing too much. Boarderless is pretty sweet though.

Ty Lee is really powerful (and really accurate), but I don't think her ability should be CBN. Against the Avatar's group, she'd basically be an infinite block.

Aang should be protected from discard, or be able to go into the avatar state when he's about to be discarded.

I may be biased, but Toph should have an awesome ability. She's just okay right now...

I love the animals abilities. I think that could be a great new mechanic by itself, if characters could automatically band to the animals.

I'd love to have a White Lotus theme.

Need enhancements, obviously. I'm not sure how you're going to do bending techniques...would they be weapons, or only usable by proper benders, or just normal enhancements?

As a big fan of Avatar and Redemption, I'd love to see them mixed with similar mechanics. Obviously, the card types would be the same, although I'd like to see a weather and/or location card type, which would help certain benders, but only one could be out at a time. A different win strategy would be needed too, such as conquering the world, killing the avatar (which would be pretty easy with Azula's ability...), or defeating Fire Lord Ozai. I'm sure Avatar had it's own TCG already, but it's probably lame, haha.
CBN is CBN is CBN.  He wouldn't negate himself, he's CBN
Toph is a little blind girl...

When gender is unknown, the male version is appropriate.  I remember hearing that somewhere...

im sorry, you must have me mistaken for R&D. its not exactly my job to think of new material, just pointing out by example that its been done with other ccg's so its by all means most certainly possible with redemption.

Maybe animals can be "equipt" to a character and unlike weapons, you could change who the animal is with each prep phase.

There needs to be a few more things:

Full moon:
Multi TC
All water bending abilities that target one character target all non water benders (except Aang).  Discard after one round.

Meteor:
TC
Same at Full Moon but for fire

Death Of Moon Spirit:
Negate all water bending abilities.

Eclipes:
Same as above for fire.

A concept that could be some how introduced to Redemption is the territory cards of Yu Gi Oh.  This would also be great for bending purposes.

I like that idea for animals. I'm not sure how it'd work though, because Toph should not be able to ride Appa, but should be able to hang out with Momo. I guess not everything has to be accurate though.

As I said earlier, weather and location cards would be great. For example:
Ocean
Location Card
No earth bending cards may be used.

Full Moon
Weather Card
All water benders may band to each other. Discard after one battle.

Blood Bending
Water Bend
If Full Moon is in play, you may choose a blocker and play an enhancement on that character, but then discard that character and opponent may add another evil character to battle.
*usable only by Katara*

I'm thinking Bending cards could be kind of like W/C, but for the respective benders. So, Water Whip could be used by any water bender, but Water Heal (needs a better title) could only be used by female water benders.

For the animals, they could have an identifier that tells you who they can be with.

As for blood bending, kitara shouldn't be able to use it unless its against the woman who taught her.  Which would be:

???? Don't know name
3/3
Water bender
"If full moon is in play, chose two characters to fight each other. You control both characters. CBN unless Katara is in play."
Identifier:
Can use water bending no matter the terrain

Katara also used it against the man who killed her mother, but only briefly.

Love the idea of a side battle where you control both characters.
