I like that, but with the ability to rescue itself, and able to use something like His name is John to make all his enhancements CBN along with 2 good CBI/CBN enhancements, his numbers may need to be changed so that he doesn't play first almost every time. May be useless anyways, considering that he can choose the blocker, but still.

I put him that way so PwD will kill him (as a blemished Priest trying to carry the Ark would have been). In order to do the self-rescue, you have to have Ark in a deck slot (not generally a good idea), then have it active at the same time as you have no access to Lost Souls (a bad gamestate in the first place, usually comes about after a DoU or SSS), and you only get two attempts per game because of the restrictions on Ark. That sounds like plenty of counterbalance to me, but I may be missing something.

I just think that him getting initiative most of the time, as well as picking the EC brought in and being able to rescue itself, it may be a little OP. although, ark of the covenant does limit it well, but maybe have it where you discard if decreased instead. kinda like, if they aren't perfect like they are killed in the same way and keeps with the card.

This would need some testing for T2 (where I can have 4 of these guys and 3 Arks), but I like the basic concept.

Ark is per game so it's still only twice in T2. Glad you like it! I'm trying to think outside the box about soul scumming.

Correct.

I'm definitely on board with the idea since you still need to win a battle to rescue a soul. I think I'd like to see one of two things happen though (granted this is without testing): either drop the choose the blocker ability or make him a unique Hero (since it's easier to spam generic characters in T2). Combining choose the blocker with essentially a soul gen Hero is awfully strong.

Name it "The Ark Bearers" so it is exceedingly obvious that the hero is not generic
