Title: ROTATION CUBE Q v1
Post by: Master Q on September 23, 2025, 02:54:24 PM
Have you ever wished you could play Redemption's Canonically Superior Experience (Booster Draft) anytime, anywhere? I have, and I know you have too. Two problems with that. One, gathering enough people to play. Admittedly, this cube does not solve this problem. However, see problem two: Booster Draft is expensive. You buy packs, open packs, draft cards, build your deck, and, once the tournament's over, that's that. The cards get de-sleeved, packed away, and, in our case, probably never seen again. It's great fun, but hardly practical to do multiple times without feeling like there's maybe a better way (or at least a less-wallet heavy way). So, recently, as I thought of ways to make better use of those binder pages waiting between those few tournaments a year I play in for Booster Drafts, a thought struck me of a category I played long ago, and the realization that, fortunately, there exists a way around this-
Cube Draft
Honestly, what better way to use your cards than in the service of RCSE? I can't think of any. So, recalling what I could of Travis' first Cube draft I played in at Nats 2014, I was led to his page for inspiration. See this helpful link for the original: https://www.cactusforums.com/game-play-variations/want-your-input-on-building-gem-city-games-redemption-cube!/ (https://www.cactusforums.com/game-play-variations/want-your-input-on-building-gem-city-games-redemption-cube!/)
So, with some numbers I could work with, I set out to make my own Cube with a modern take- Rotation cards were in, Scrolls cards were out. With many similarities and some departures from Travis' TLG Cube, this is what I came up with:
720 Cards(Enough for 12 players at 4 packs of 15 for 60 cards per player
Brigade Totals (excluding DAC, Covs, and Curses 7 Good brigades x 7 = 280 Good Cards 6 Evil brigades x 6 = 276 Evil Cards 164 other cards
Totals (with DAC, Covs, and Curses counted) 319 Good Cards 319 Evil Cards 82 Neutral Cards

As of making this post (9/23/25), I've only tried this once with 8 players, so it was not even with the full list (480 cards rather than 720). However, they were good players and good games, and I think it was a good test, so I'll leave this here in case others want to use/tweak/build their own version of a modern cube. I plan to use this as a base cube for a long time to come, so hopefully it will get to the point where I'm totally satisfied with it. As of now, more testing is welcome, so if anyone has any ideas or a group to test with, I'd love to hear thoughts and suggestions; I know I have ideas myself for potential changes/additions. For now, I put this month-long project to rest.
PS- Don't forget everyone needs Lost Souls (not drafted)!
