This game type came to me when I was trying to build a middle-of-the-line deck to play against a friend of mine who is an experienced beginner and wanted a challenge. This game type would have 4deck-building rules:
1) You cannot use cards that were released after the Priests expansion (because those cards don't really have a rarity)
2) No Ultra-rares
3) No Promos
4) No Haman's Plot
All other rules of the game would be the same. This leads to some really fun decks that use a lot of fun cards that don't get used as much, while still being competitive and challenging. This is intended for T1 but I don't see why it couldn't be used in T2 as well. I call it "Common Man" because it uses cards that everyone has access to and players at all levels could put together a semi-competitive deck under these rules. Give it a try, it's a lot of fun!

Ok.
FBTN DECKS
That was fun.

No no he said no packs after priests. :P no booster
-
It is similar to booster and sealed, but this is an open category, which makes it completely different....
-
Booster normally uses mostly packs before Priests.

and a tin. all of which are post-priests.

I've played Booster with tins only a handful of times, our playgroup usually uses just packs.
-
but the difference is that this is an open category, so you get to use any cards you want, not just whatever you get out of packs during booster, it makes it radically different than booster and for some interesting decks because you can't use ultra rares and promos.

Yeah, but as was said before, I'd see this just becoming FBTN deck vs FBTN deck.
-
not necessarily, because there are a lot of card out there that stop FBTN, like holy of holies, golden calf, asherah poll, confusion of mind, and trap of the devil, that stop FBTN, and the ways you would normally get around those, like DoN and captured ark, you can't use, making it so that you have to kill artifacts with your defense. This game type also lends itself to more balanced decks, because there is less speed and CBN enhancements to rely on, you need more defense, and therefore you have more ways to counter FBTN

As mentioned above, FBTN will be rampant, even if art counters are played. Also making their way in these decks:
Phinehas/Josh the HP/Amariah/Zeal/Jordan Interrupted/Holy Unto the Lord, and possibly Altar of Incense/Burning Incense (for CBN/CBI battlewinners)
There's no Darius Decree, so that means First Fruits and Feast of Trumpets are going in.
CTB is still awesome, so Provisions goes in (can be played on Benaiah and Hur) and Amaziah goes in (can also play First Fruits)
I think the offenses will look like this:
Captain
TSA
Benaiah
Ira
Moses
Phinehas
Josh the HP
Amariah
King Amaziah
Hur
Jacob
Another Teal hero or two
A non-ultra rare multi enhancement or two (Shoes of Peace maybe?)
Godspeed
Cov of Moses
Zeal
Holy Unto the Lord
Scapegoat
Jehoida's Strength
First Fruits
Feast of Trumpets
Provisions
Obedience of Noah
Gifts of the Magi
GG.

Why would people use the old king Amaziah?
I actually think this a very good idea ;)

For his Choose the Blocker ability.

It's a nice idea. I agree with the people who are pointing out it would be no less centralized, but it'd be fun to get to use Stonewall again! Also, bear in mind there is no iteration of New Jerusalem that is neither Promo nor Ultra-Rare, so speed won't be as effective.
-
I think that would be an effective offense, I would also put in ET and AoC possibly. I thinks that the FBTN counters will be great enough to make it hard for FBTN to steamroll other deck types, since there are many, many counters to it and those counters are hard to kill given the deck-building limitations.
I also made a small change to the rules so that the "ultra-rares" that don't have the gold border can be used, giving access to a lot of warriors cards

Like KoT? Oh dear...
Like the idea otherwise.

No, getting rid of Harvest Time and New Jerusalem is the only thing that would make this viable. Allow the Warriors UR's and it's just a disaster.
-
I think I'll change it back...where could you find a list of ultra-rares that aren't gold bordered?
Edit: I looked it up, here are the only ultra-rares that aren't gold-bordered (all of these are from warriors):
Michael
Ark of the Covenant
King of Tyrus
Harvest time
New Jerusalem
Belt of Truth
Breastplate of Righteousness
Helmet of Salvation
Pillar of Fire
Shield of Faith
Out of these the only one that would make any kind of noticeable change to the game would by the addition of New Jerusalem imo, so I would be find with adding them
