Title: Seeking Rules Proofreader
Post by: TimMierz on September 20, 2010, 10:25:58 PM
You may have read about my game Awesome Bots in another thread (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/index.php?topic=23117.0). Now I wonder if any of you would be willing to look over the rulebook (https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B8p9jRGrG39TNjlhZjc5ODctNDUxMS00NTY4LWEzZmUtZDNjYzdhY2U3ZDVj&hl=en&authkey=CImbi5wL) (three and a half pages, including images) for grammar, sense-make, and layout. (Some of the images look bad on the Google Docs page, but if you download the PDF it will look perfect.) Any feedback is appreciated. Extra points for using "vichyssoise" in your response.

Are you out of your vichyssoise mind?

No? Then, I'll read it tomorrow.

"20" in 20xx is the wrong font.
In the year 20XX, you and your colleagues are, like most people, aspiring roboticists.  Awkward Sentence, consider rephrasing.
“2 Purple” Same font issue.

Needs a deckbuilding rules section. Actually, I just re-read it more closely and I'm now thinking there is no deck customization, so that won't be a problem.

It's not a CCG or even a Dominion-style deck building game. Each player is dealt a deck for the first Build phase, and each of the other Build phases is preceded by a Get phase in which they draft cards that were sent to the Junkyard. Those drafted cards are added to what was passed to them in the previous Build phase.

As for the font thing, the font chosen for the rules just has small numbers. I assure you that all the body text is the same typeface and each section has a consistent font size.
