I'm looking for songs to cover on piano and my idea's have seem to run dry. Any suggestions, they don't have to be christian or piano songs at all but songs that you think would sound cool on the piano.
-
I've always liked:
Fur Elise
The Entertainer
Axel F
The Rose
-
I quite like this one:

What era music you looking to cover and what type? Big Band? Jazz Standards? Cuban? Spanish? Concertos? Modern Music? ect? Ive got loads of sheet music and loads of recommendations so ask and it shall be given!
-
I was thinking modern day rock or country. I like doing this without sheet music because it gives me a challenge.
-
Well that rules me out hahaha im a 1950's and earlier kinda guy.

Coldplay is always a good, albeit simple choice. There's also Elton John and Billy Joel - but I'm sure you've been there and done that. If you're open to keyboards, look at stuff like The Doors and The Cars, which have some great organ parts. If you're willing to be exposed to some pretty offensive content, Bo Burnham is a modestly talented pianist and his stuff looks fun to play.

Let's make my point a little clearer. Please request SONGS that you think would be cool to play. They could be your favorite songs but I've spent so long digging through songs I don't know where to start so suggestion.....

Clocks - Coldplay
The Scientist - Coldplay
Saturday's Alright For Fighting - Elton John
Piano Man - Billy Joel
Art is Dead - Bo Burnham (Some strong language)
Love Is - Bo Burnham (Even more strong language and inappropriate humor)

Oh no not the Piano Man its one of the most over rated songs ever written. It sounds good but its SOOOO boring it never changes it uses like the same 4 or 5 chords and in the same chord progression for the whole song! Drives me nuts every time I hear the song.

Not to be the stereotypical girl response here, but I have heard some amazing covers of Adele songs, especially Rolling in the Deep, because they are easy songs to mess around with. Another one thats good is Secrets by One Republic
-
rolling in the deep is way to over played and my sister would start singing to it and make me want to hit myself even more.

I must admit, your tears are delicious. Despite the rather generic structure of the song, it's still a classic, and piano solo is pretty impressive.

I can definately understand that feeling. you could cover some 80's bands, REO Speedwagon, Journey, Heart ect.

Now you're going out of your way to give a stereotypical girl response :p
Sky is Over by Serj Tankian (sp?) is an underrated and very nice choice.

A friend of mine does a ton of Hans Zimmer piano covers. A Lion King Medley, Pirates Theme, Time (from Inception), etc. Great stuff. I prefer to compose my own, but I recently did Home by Mumford and Sons and plan on doing more of theirs. I also heard a great Dogs like Vultures (Haste the Day) piano cover one time...
