Title: Site-Lock
Post by: Warrior_Monk on April 30, 2012, 05:37:36 PM
Yeah, I'm bringing this up again. It's been on my mind for awhile now, but Twice Afflicted and Prisoner Transfer make Soul Devastation way more fun. However, I think Site-Lock is probably easier and more viable. I mean, really, how much site-access does somebody include in a deck nowadays? Two cards, at best? Sure, you have heroes, but correct site choices takes care of that no problem (even with this diverse meta), and ASA can take care of anything else on his own.

So is Site-Lock viable in the current meta?

Obvious problems include soul generation, but even that is dependent on a lot of factors. Many people don't use Harvest Time anymore (which doesn't really help anyway), Hopper is shut down by FBTN (rampant), and evil characters are easily disposed of by negation, or even Blue Tassels.

Obviously, a deck relying on site lockout would do most of it's drawing in the Prep Phase, but it could still be an easy 50 cards. You only need 4 sites for Lock-Out, and the defense that accompanies it really only needs ASA + Survivor, and from there can be Trembling Demon + Holy of Holies + Torment + Uzzah etc.

As for site color, probably silver, but possibly red.

Ever since the new rule chance, site lock out has been hurt tremendously. I'm not even sure its a viable strategy anymore... I guess it will just need some play testing then :D

How exactly has the new rule change hurt site-lock? In fact, how as site-lock been hurt in the past year? The last big hit it took was Fishing Boat, but ASA alone takes care of that.

Watch out for WaterTomb. SWJ, MtM, and WatW could hurt you.

You cannot rescue your own lost souls with son of god and new Jerusalem.

no but you can and will so your doms simply replace them meaning if he can setup fast enough to keep you from getting the 3rd soul it doesn't matter.

Which partially solves one of the main problems of Site-Lock--getting to your SoG/NJ fast. Now you don't have to worry about that and instead just need to work on your opponent's. If they play them early, that's fine, it's just like before except your opponent is using them. If they hold on to them, they get hand clog and leave them vulnerable, which is also fine. It puts them in a bad situation.

Adding some side battle fun could be nice too. A High Priest Plot and a Wrath would fit well.

And you are far more wrong than he is. No deck plays site acess other than stuff like fishing boat and like maybe one hero. Thus site-lock wins.

Not to mention Isaiah+Isaiah's Call will ruin you.
