Side battles IMO go well with deck d/c. Go with green/red and evil gold, and you can have Sword Against Sword, Visions, Sing and Praise, Joseph's Brothers' Scheme, and that one evil gold enh. that makes two EC's fight. You can also have Amasai the Raider, Hidden Treasures, Wickedness Removed, and then all the fun evil gold deck d/c stuff. (If you want to add in a bit of silver, you can have Gabriel and Angel of the Harvest for a little extra deck d/c as well.)

If you are going with side battles, you simply have to use some green, as is has two side battle cards, a way to recur them both, as well as a way to play one of them before battle.

You can actually play both of them before your opponent can do anything. Use a provisioned hero with HT active then play Visions.

I would call it two and a half...and no one uses that card anyway.

Even if they did, you can get rid of it with DoN, Captured Ark, or Lying unto God if you are afraid of it. (In other words, artifacts aren't very big threats.)

Don't forget that Jeremiah uses Cup of Wrath, so no point in using blue. Green and Gold is how I'd do it.

Before High Places, many of the "place" enhancements would have been good choices in a side-battle deck as well, and I suppose they still are. Another kind of card which side-battles enhance are the pale green diseases and paralyzers. This is not even including all the stuff you can do to mess with the main battle...

What? Wasn't it ruled that whenever a card referred to battle, it meant this battle? I thought Great Image would discard all the heroes in the main battle as well.

If not, I want to be able to start a side battle with Captain of the Host and negate the main battle.

That's the thing. I was pretty sure it was ruled Captain could not negate the card that started the side battle because he only affected cards in the main battle, regardless of his wording. If this is the way it works, then it seems to follow logically to me that Great Image would discard the hero in the main battle if played in a side battle, because "not in the field of battle" should mean "not in this battle." Or does the problem have something to do with the wording?

Eh, Just start playing a peanut butter deck (PB= prophets and Babs) and you dont have to worry about the whole field fo battle, current battle razzmatazz. Just flip up HT go in wiht a Prophet play SotL and then set up the Great Image hero killing bomb!

Its one of may favorite plays in that deck.
