Title: Set Aside Deck
Post by: DaClock on February 26, 2009, 05:55:44 PM
So this is an idea a friend and I had a while back. What if you based a whole offense on Set-Aside enhancements? You get FBN guys big, Provisions, Passover and Unleavened Bread, Pentecost, Passover+Zebulun, etc. The offense would rely a lot on characters to win battles. You could use whatever defense you wanted, but it would also be cool to continue the set aside theme if it were plausible.

What do you guys think? What kind of strategies could be used?

Angels would be nice, with Gathering and...that one that starts with W. :-\ Red-Green-Silver-Blue...that sounds good.

I can win a game with a set aside. Yep, one. But I'm not gonna post it here.

Pentacost/first Fruits = Card Drawing(probably recur with Z-Temple Priests)
Passover and Unleavened Bread = Get rid of characters
You'd need holy grail for arts
Witness to creation = ignore humans while three nails is up
Ambush = Use on King david and sometimes they block with royalty(I have a combo but it involves other stuff)

You'd probably use Z-temple Priests. You can make them invinsible anyways... with the right set asides, that'd be awesome. You can also do: Ira with drawn water(the blue one where you gain numbers), drawn out to protect from discard, built on the rock to protect from capture, conversion, and removal from the game, and then some set asides to make his numbers rediculous. And you've got a one hero army with only set asides.

How about a converted Saul/Paul in Goshen that you never rescue with, just use him to direct all the different colored set asides off of?
I like it....

Would you like to post your combo that you win the game with a set-aside or maybe you're combo that involves other stuff? It's kind of silly to mention things like that and then not post them.

On the defense side you have...

Killing heroes with Chemosh, Zeresh Advises Haman, etc.
Self capture using RC + Persian Presidents to capture one of your own heroes, etc.
Set aside in battle Moses kills Egyptian, etc.
Big BTN  Sapphira + Covenant of Death, etc.

In a 100-card deck you can have 2 of each setaside (I like Witnesses to Creation and Lamenting for Jephthah's Daughter best) and you can play Book of Jashar to copy them.  If you have a blue hero in play and 4 angels, you can play 2 WtC and 2 Book of Jashar and ignore humans four times.

That's an awesome idea. Are you sure you can use Book of Jashar to copy a set-aside?

As long as you play it in battle. It says last enh played, so you could copy anything with it.

Someone asked!  ;)

Heldai+helez+maharai+IA+Ehud+gathering+kings The strong angel. Pick low guys, and you cancel everything. It's been able to get past every defense... the problem is holding back some of the offenses these days.

You could always use Benjamin to play them, that should work 90% of the time.

More like pick guys that don't have can't be negated stuff.  Numbers really shouldn't be an issue with that big a band.

Yeah, and from what I hear some of those 1/1 Kings are going to get extra nasty with a new card.

If getting initiative ain't bad enough.   ::)

If you think about it though, most people wouldn't bother blocking a 1/1 hero with a 1/1 EC, as the hero would have initiative regardless.  They'd be more likely to block with a different EC and save the 1/1 for another rescue.

Now that I think about it, you might need to have Coat of many Colors to have the Witnesses to Creation-s activate.
