Rotation Animal Defense

(1/2) > >>

Gabe:
I've found this crimson animal defense to be quite fun for the Rotation format.

Endless Treasures - To grab your amazing crimson Curses.
Covenant with Philistia - Can be in deck or Reserve depending on your setup. Feels like Endless Treasures for animals.

I'm running 9 ECs in the main deck:

Esau the Hunter - Grab an animal or play first? Amazing!
The Serpent - CBN block with Serpent's Curse
Devouring Lions - Great for taking out evil humans, especially in a side battle.
Lions - Great for taking out evil humans, especially in a side battle.
Stubborn Heifer - The repeatable nature of the negate can be amazing!
Fire Foxes - Excellent chump block but can just as easily be in the Reserve.
Leviathan - Amazing block, especially with all the negate/interrupts.
The Great Fish - Occasional auto-block vs lone Heroes
Fiery Serpents - I'm trying this out as a battle winner vs bands that gets around Jeremiah's toss. Not sure about it yet.

I'm running 7 EEs in my deck:

Anthropophobia - This only serves as a versatile EE for me. Pair it with blue for added value.
Carcassess - This is a CBN battle winner vs so many popular characters! Searchable with Endless Treasures.
Seized by Babylon - Great interrupt + win the battle even without Babylonians.
Lurking - Used to grab a "negate" character from Reserve.
Scattered - Still amazing after all these years.
Wages of Sin - There's quite a bit this can get between the deck and Reserve.
Pride of Lions - Very fun and occasionally really effective!

I'm running 5 evil cards in the Reserve:

Behemoth - Usually targeted by Lurking for the negate ability but can also be grabbed by Cov w/ Philly or Leviathan.
Withered Plant/The Worm - A second negate target for Lurking.
Negev Lions - Amazing band off Pride of Lions!
Serpent’s Curse - CBN battle winner on The Serpent.
Fire From Heaven - A negate for Leviathan to grab.

These are some other cards that I considered but aren't in the deck right now:

Foolish Shepherd - Seems to pair well with animals. Restricting Dominants is great and banding is always welcome.
Wild Beast - A fourth Lion for Pride of Lions.
Bear - Huge potential with Love and The Holy Spirit if you run those.
Wild Dogs - An interesting initiative animal that can take out a problem Hero.
Scapegoat - I love having this in Reserve to grab on a turn when there's no LS to rescue and I don't have soul gen.

Disagreement Over Mark - Not great at the moment but going to be amazing when GoC releases!
Hypocrisy - CBP battle winner plus bounce is really useful.
Treasures of War - Easy target for Wages if you have issues with Artifacts.
Turncoat - Winning the battle and taking a character is double the fun!
Regrets - Really useful and can be targeted by Wages. But a dead card if my opponent isn't playing evil humans.
Betrayal - Battle winning and drawing!

SpartaPastor:
I played one similar defense a few times last week with a flood deck. It was very effective. fit well with the theme too.

Reth:
This looks really great! Would Basemath also be worth a shot while Esau is available?

She could be a great addition in place of one of the less reliable animals! Especially if you face Storehouse or other hand protection often!

And if you band her in off Lurking she can be even more devastating as a potential battle winner.
