Title: non Garden Tomb white
Post by: galadgawyn on September 06, 2010, 04:58:30 PM
I don't have a decklist with me right now but I was curious if anyone else has tried something like this.

I used to play various offensive speed decks (all the teal set-asides, draw, etc.) and I would get through my deck and have more than enough offense to crush the opposing defence but I would lose games because they would have no lost souls for me to go after for 2-5 turns.  This was with including Hopper and Harvest Time.

So I got tired of that and wanted to build a deck that would try to gaurantee that I could make a rescue attempt every turn.  I decided to go gold and white.

I added SWJ, Woman at the Well, The Good Samaritan?, Generous Widow, Martha, Gold TC convert, and the rest was N.T. female in white.  I also had Joseph Before Pharoah and the white officer to generate lost souls.  I the N.T. access site.  I found that this was largely successful in making souls available even against site lockouts.  I know people would assume I'm using the Garden Tomb with this but people in my area haven't played it much and I didn't feel the need for it.  White also covers Gold weakness against demons quite nicely.

Susanna was also great; a couple times she buried 3 of my souls and even let me come back from a 4-1? deficit.

So does anyone even think about playing White and Gold together or about using White without Garden Tomb?

Of course some games I had a bad draw and lost but overall it has performed quite well.  I kept wanting to add about a 5 card defence but never got around to it.  I thought Hormah, the Babylonian burier, and couple more targets for him like 12FG, Nebushan.  Not sure if it is worth weakening the offence though.

If I ever can afford Disciples then I would probably want to update a couple cards from there.

I use white without Garden Tomb, but that's because I use Daniel heroes.  ;D

I played a White/Gold TGT deck for most of the tournament season this past year, It swept NC Regionals, going 6-0, Won April ROOT with an 8-2 record, and won August ROOT with an 9-0 record. Needless to say the deck is pretty boss.

SWJ fails pretty hard. It may seem good, but I'd take it out....

Interesting.  Did you use defense?  do you mind sharing what you put in your version?

SWJ comment is sarcasm, right?  I have found you have to be careful with it; on occasion it helped my opponent more than me but overall it is awesome.

Nah, SWJ rocks. I just hate seeing it, last two times RDT used it against me he sniped both SOG AND NJ. Last time he got like 5 doms all together ::).

Yeah, I've been meaning to post it. I just haven't gotten around to it.

Gold/White TGT used to be fairly common, but is less popular now with so many counters to PBI and territory-destruction.

Really? Interesting, I knew of only 5 doing it last year, and 3 of them were copying my deck. Did you see it more in your area?

I had one made several months before I first played yours, but I only played it at a local tournament beings I felt that White/Teal/(possibly purple) was more effective. I also saw that some players in ROOT were using gold/TGT (atleast 2, likely more).

At actual tournaments, though, the only ones I saw were yours and Chris Bany's (which I assume was one of the 3 copying yours?)

Man... I wish I could have played more of them. I feel like my deck wasn't as good as it could have been, beings I didn't play against it very often to really see its week points, or to see what other poeple running it were doing different than me. Btw, the deck is posted up in Complete Decks with my NC regionals report if anyone is interested in looking at it.

The deck I played at Nationals was White/gold on offense.  It actually used defense too.  I had TGT but didn't need or use it in many games.  It's just too good not to use if you have a couple Heroes who benefit from it.  That deck ended up taking 4th place in T1-2P.  The MVP of the deck was Faith in Our High Priest.

This was my original T2 and I was very pleased with it even though it went 3 and 10.
I used Susanna and Jairus Daughter as my main heroes and used 'He is Risen' repeatedly paired with a watcher and Gathering of Angels so you set them aside and shuffle them next battle.
You want to have 2 SWJ and and a lot of samaritans also thankful leper does something with lost souls doesn't he?
Also Lazarus + Convincing Miracle = Instant Recurrance.
Hope this helped. :)
