Using TLG pricing, I'm curious what the best deck is that someone could create using ONLY cards that are under $1 per card. For that matter I'm curious if you could create a competitive deck for under $.50 a card.
Our local playgroup is primarily persons 15 or younger, so disposable income is really hard to come by. It's much easier to convince parents to purchase a bunch of $.50 cards for their child then one Grapes of Wrath for $25 :)
Thanks for any ideas you can offer.

It would be pretty simple to make a decent TGT deck under that price. G/H starter for $10, TGT tin for $10, Susanna for $0.75, white ladies and Herod's Temple from Disciples for $5, maybe a few of the standalone blockers like Uzzah to fill in the rest.

It wouldn't be 1$ a card but a great way to get a competive deck would be to pick a theme and buy 2 corresponding tins (with packs inside). This would be about ($28-$32 plus shipping) leaving you about $15 to pick up those little cards that you Need to finish off your deck.
Also just ask around for doms. I haven't pulled a falling away, graps, or a NJ out of a pack ever but was able to trade for or buy them way under TLG prices. (most recent example: just got a doubt for $3 and TLG has doubt priced at $12)

You could also create a really nice Genesis deck just with buying 4-ish tins and then a couple singles.

+1
The TGT tin comes with Persians already. So add in PotW Prince of Persia and whatever that other Persian from Di is along with Gomer + Uzzah and you're about set, I think I'll post a deck based on this actually...

Asking no more than $1 per card is going to be a bit much. I understand your goal, but a solid $50 deck is going to be a lot better if you stick to $50 for the whole deck, instead of $1 per card, since some cards (especially from the last three sets) are going to be more than a dollar, but not a lot more, and will help boost a deck considerably.

+1 Yeah I think the total should be under $50 but leave no price limit after that, in the deck I posted there are multiple cards over $1 the most expensive of which is Uzzah $6. But he is easily available in Tin can packs. I think that it should be based on availability rather than price. All of the cards that I put in the deck that I posted are easily accessible.

Yeah I like these ideas. Thanks very much. I want to be able to tell younger/newer players that for $50 they can make a very solid deck.

I've posted another under $50 deck. Isaiah Assyrians this time. http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/deck-concepts/2nd-answer-to-the-challenge-isiahassyrian-%28assitance-please%29/ (http://www.cactusgamedesign.com/message_boards/deck-concepts/2nd-answer-to-the-challenge-isiahassyrian-%28assitance-please%29/)
